2015 Jeff Galloway 13.1 Pace Leader Bios

Scott Jarvis (1:30)

I grew up just outside of Atlanta and have been here ever since. Soccer was always my favorite sport growing up, but I discovered my passion for running once I joined the cross country team in high school. I went on to run cross country and track all four years at Emory University where my favorite event was the 1500m on the track. After graduating I took a year off of running, but have been in a marathon kick ever since! I ran the Shamrock marathon this past March in order to qualify for Chicago and Boston. At the Chicago marathon last month, I ran my personal best time of 2:43:23. I will be running my first "official" half marathon in Atlanta on Thanksgiving day, and I look forward to making my pacing debut a few weeks later at the Jeff Galloway 13.1!
Jenny Galloway (1:45)
I am excited to return as a pacer for the Jeff Galloway 13.1!  Last year our pace group shared many stories and laughs during the beautiful race, and I know that we will do the same again this year!  The half marathon is one of my favorite distances, and the Jeff Galloway 13.1 course connects many of my favorite running routes in Atlanta.  I'm looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm for this event & to helping people reach their running goals!
Carl Leivers (1:45)
Running has been a part of my life ever since middle school. I competed through high school and college have continued running ever since. After graduating, I worked with the Jeff Galloway Training Programs in Colorado Springs and saw first-hand how the run-walk method can help people reach their goals and feel great doing it! I've used the run- walk approach in several races, including my best ever time in the Pikes Peak Ascent. I'm excited to be a pacer for the JG 13.1 and help other runners hit their time goals!
Ian Farrell (2:00)
I started running sprints of 100-400 meters while in school. I hold the local county record for the 100 meters at age 14. After college, running took a very long hiatus of 25 years until I did a couch to 5K program after quitting smoking and losing 100lbs in one year. I ran my first Marathon in 2014 at Marine Corps. In 2014-15 I have run 20 Halfs and 3 Marathons. You CAN do it! I look forward to running with you soon.
Pam Piligian (2:10)
I’m Pam, ran my first marathon to celebrate my 40th birthday.  15 marathons and 13 years later, I’m still running.  I’m a squeaker, qualified for Boston by 11 seconds and hope to get back there someday.    I’m proud part of the MOB  - Mother of Boys- with two sons, 20 and 18.  Look forward to pacing the 2:00, helping folks realize their goal.  I paced the Atlanta Marathon and someone in our group was met by boyfriend at the finish line, down on one knee to propose.  You never know what can happen.  We’ll run well, and have fun along the way.  This is your race, and your day.  You earned it.  Join the fun!
Sherri Barnes (2:10)

Sherri began training with Galloway for her first half marathon in 2003 and had so much fun that she decided to join the marathon group.  Since then she has completed 11 marathons in 10 states and countless half marathons.  In addition to running races, she also works as the volunteer coordinator for an Atlanta tradition, the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program.

David Hardwick (2:20)
This will be my second year as a Galloway pacer; a role I really enjoy. So again, I am excited to be here for YOU as we run the 2015 Galloway 13.1. Now that I have over 47 years of competitive running, but I have found the Galloway Run‐Walk‐Run program to exceed all expectations. As we run together we will be talking pacing, sliding and gliding, shuffling and mind over matter. In doing this, I hope to learn more about you and your goals and how to make your experience a great one! So let's do it together.

Connie Smith (2:30)

Connie is the Jacksonville Galloway Program Director.  She’s been running with the Jacksonville Galloway program for just over 6 years.  Connie has run over 25 Half Marathons and 6 Marathons and is currently training for her 7th Marathon, 2nd Half Ironman and her 1st Full Ironman.  When not training or working with the Galloway program she teaches Spin Class and TRX.  After losing more than 50 pounds her goal in life is to show everyone getting off the couch and out being active is better for your wellbeing, stress levels and makes you more productive at work.

Kelley Tenney (2:30)
Kelley is a mother of two and keeps all the plates spinning from her international cosmetic business to teaching Health Education.  A Program Director of the Long Beach Galloway program, she is excited to run the Jeff Galloway 13.1 as the
2:30 pacer for the 2nd year!

Rich Harris (2:45)

My name is Rich. I have run in over 30 Peachtree Road Races. Four years ago while training for the KP Corporate Challenge at Phidippides Sandy Springs, I was introduced to a wonderful , supportive group of friends that were members of the Galloway Marathon Training Program. I officially joined the group the following Spring and ran my first marathon in my hometown city of Chicago in Fall of 2012. Since then I have run in nine more marathons. I have paced in the Atlanta Thanksgiving Half Marathon three times with my friends, the Ultra Michelob Atlanta 13.1 and the  Atlanta Marathon. I am very excited to be part of the JG 13.1.
Joye McElroy (2:45)
In 1995 I stopped smoking after 25 years and gained 60 lbs in one year. In March 1996 I started walking then running around Stone Mountain to lose the weight. I c completed some 5K and 10Ks until I met Jeff Galloway in 2003. He convinced me if I could run a 10K I could run a half marathon and I should go to Greece to do it. So in November 2003 I went to Greece and ended up running my first marathon. I'll save the story for later. Since 2003 I've completed a marathon in all 50 states and several counties, and I've run an unknown number of half marathons, 10 milers, 10Ks and 5Ks. I've paced the Georgia Marathon several times. I look forward to meeting you.
Mary Neiberger (3:00)
I am a recreational runner and have been running for the past six years.  I've been using the Galloway run/walk method for about the past 4 years. I'm now the Assistant Program Director for the Gainesville Galloway running program.  Last February I was a pace group leader at the Donna Deegan Breast Cancer half marathon in Jacksonville.
Sondra Jarvis (3:00)

I have run with the Raleigh Galloway Program since 2013 as a team lead as well as paced several half marathons for Race 13.1 and full marathons for City of Oaks. I took up running around my 40th birthday, since then I have run 20+ marathons, 45+ half marathons, 5 ultras, 4 Sprint Triathlons, and several smaller races. I discovered that the running community means so much to me and I love every minute of helping people accomplish their goals whether it be their first race or their 50th. I look forward to making a lot of friends out on the streets of Atlanta.

Dennis Maloney (3:30)
My name is Dennis Maloney, and I have been training with the Jacksonville Galloway Program since 2007. I never thought of myself as an athlete until I became one when I began running at the age of 55. Sharing the run-walk-run method with others is my motivation for being a Group Leader. I have finished 29 half marathons, and paced runners for the past three years. I am looking forward to crossing the finish line of this year’s JG13.1 with my fellow runners.
Susan Maloney (4:00)
My name is Susan Maloney, and I have been training with the Jacksonville Galloway Program since 2006. I walked my first three half marathons that year. Since then, I have enjoyed being a Group Leader with the goal of introducing new runners to the sport. I have finished more than 30 half marathons, and paced runners for the past three years. I look forward to returning to pace this year’s Inaugural JG13.1, and helping my fellow runners “finish the race, with a smile on their face!”

Jaye Reed (4:00)

My name is Jaye Reed, and I have been training with the Jacksonville Galloway Program since 2008. I like being a Group Leader because it gives me a chance to help people train safely, and I enjoy giving back to the community. I have finished more than 20 half marathons, and paced runners for the past three years. I am looking forward to returning to Atlanta to be a pacer for JG13.1, and helping people reach their goal of finishing a half marathon!

Pam Beckham (4:30)
