3rd Annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival Announces Music & Entertainment Lineup!
Atlanta, GA --- The 3rd Annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival will take place beautiful Blackburn Park on Saturday, Mach 25 and Sunday, March 26. Not only will festival attendees enjoy an Arts & Crafts Market, a Pet Parade, Children’s Village, Stunt Dog Shows and delicious food from Atlanta’s most popular Food Trucks, but they will be entertained by live performances throughout the weekend. Admission to the festival is FREE.
From Classic Rock and Funk, to Latin and Ragtime, you can find it at this year’s Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival! Here are some of the highlights:
Named after the drink that is a cultural trademark of the south, Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project began when the veteran singer/songwriter reconnected with the rich club and coffeehouse scene in Atlanta. He invited popular local to jam on new tunes he had written including “Going to Birmingham,” one of the highlights from the band’s debut album Devils ‘n Darlins. Among the frequent visitors at the Sweet Tea jams were bassist Brian Bisky and Christopher Alan Yates (who also plays banjo and trumpet). The band also includes guitarist Jesse Tripplet and drummer Mike Rizzi. They are evolving into a powerhouse recording and touring unit and are slated to release a second album, Alder Lane Farm, later this year.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Wesley Cook’s music is hard to classify, and ranges from pop and folk, to rock. "Upbeat positivity is a Wes constant, in his music and his attitude,” said Rolling Stone Magazine. Georgia Music Magazine said, "(Wesley) may just be the next big thing" in a recent publication, and he was dubbed Best Atlanta Singer-Songwriter of 2014 by Jezebel Magazine. His latest release is a soulful cover of the Leonard Cohen classic, “Hallelujah.”

Blair Crimmins has a fierce determination to bring Ragtime and 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences. He has toured the country opening for acts like Mumford & Sons and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. A multi-instrumentalist, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of trumpet, clarinet and trombone. His 2010 debut, The Musical Stylings Of, became a college radio sensation, after being launched on WRAS-FM Atlanta. He was critics pick for Best Songwriter of 2013 in Creative Loafing’s Best of ATL issue. Crimmins’ new album, You Gotta Sell Something, is getting raves.

Best known for their high-octane live show, Atlanta’s Gurufish is electrifying audiences everywhere with their provocative blend of pop, funk and soul. After a great start to the year with a sold-out showcase at SXSW, they were chosen by GA Music Awards as Georgia's Best R&B/Funk Band and named by PASTE Magazine as one of 25 Georgia Bands You Should Listen to Now. They are currently touring in support of their critically acclaimed album, Mohair Supreme.

The Breeze Kings formed in 1997 out of a mutual love for 50’s era Chicago blues. Today, the band performs over 200 shows a year all over the US and has completed four European tours. Featuring complex guitar parts, explosive harmonica, soulful vocals and groovy rhythms, they offer an authentic blend of Chicago, Delta, and regional blues. The Breeze Kings have won Creative Loafing’s annual Best Blues Band in Atlanta award TEN TIMES. They have released four CD's on Atlanta's Veritone Records label since their 1999 debut Tying One On … for the People. Their most recent release, Can’t Stay Home (2012), showcases the bands creativity with nine original tunes. The Breeze Kings are: Carlos “Breeze” Capote – vocals & harmonica, Jim Ransone – guitar, Gregg Shapiro – bass and Trevor Roberts – drums.

In 2010 Willie Ziavino formed the C.O.T. Band with Juan Bonini. The resulting sound is the fusion of musical influences from each band member with a mix of Trova Cubana, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Jazz, Caribbean and Brazilian rhythms. The C.O.T. Band has performed in Atlanta’s best Latin clubs as well as at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival and Chattanooga Riverbend Festival. Members of the band are: Willie Ziavino - guitar & vocals (Ecuador), Juan Bonini - percussion & vocals (Panamá), Kevin Hyde - trombone & vocals (USA), Jose "Bambam" Ramirez drums & vocals (Puerto Rico) and Hector Mancia - keyboard (El Salvador).
