If the inverse generating projection of a map projection, Q, is composed with the surface geodetic CS generating function,  , the resulting function,  , is the generating function of a surface CS (see Figure 5 .4). The CS domain is the MP range. In this International Standard, a map projection CS shall be surface CS for which the generating function is (implicitly) specified in terms of map projection mapping equations.
