17318 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port - Vintage 2003
4x6 bottle owc's (Wines Located in New York)
"The Quinta do Noval Vintage 2003 has a gorgeous raisin, fig and clove-scented bouquet with more freshness than the whole of Pomerol combined. As Christian Seely quipped, "the vines are accustomed to the heat". It unfolds in the glass, gaining vigor, if not complexity, with touches of leather, California raisin and dried flower emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, dishing out lovely ripe and intense blackberry, leather, sage, tobacco and white- pepper notes."(95pts)

"This is a triumphant 2000, flamboyant, super-concentrated, yet classic in proportions. Lavish notes of roasted espresso, melted chocolate, creme de cassis, toasty new oak, and Asian spices jump from the glass of this sensationally perfumed, rather ostentatious 2000. It is enormously concentrated and pure, with low acidity and exquisite balance. Remarkably, in spite of its large size, viscosity, and opulence, it is fresh and delineated. 17333 Château Ducru Beaucaillou - Vintage 1996
St. Julien
1ltl (Wines Located in New York)
"This wine is remarkable. It is muscular, concentrated, and classic a saturated ruby/purple color a knock-out nose of minerals, licorice, cassis, and an unmistakable lead pencil smell that I often associate with top vintages of Lafite-Rothschild. It is sweet and full-bodied, yet unbelievably rich with no sense of heaviness or flabbiness. The wine possesses high tannin, but it is extremely ripe, and the sweetness of the black currant, spice-tinged Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is pronounced. This profound, backward Ducru-Beaucaillou is a must purchase."(96pts)
2 bottles per lot $300-400

"This is a classic example of Haut-Marbuzet's exotic style. Huge aromas of olives, sweet new oak, and lavishly rich fruit are followed by a decadently rich, opulently styled wine that offers up gobs of sweet, herb-flavored fruit. Full-bodied, high in alcohol, with soft tannins, this gorgeous wine should drink well for another decade."(93pts)

17340 Château La Mission Haut Brion - Vintage 1996
Graves
2lscl (Wines Located in New York)
"Was even more perfumed and had a sweet cotton candy edge. It was sweet and almost tropical. Eric found the same buttered popcorn quality that reminded him of 1989. There were charcoal and mineral flavors that were expressive and possessing pop. I did not write down an exact score, but I remember that it was in what I would call the very good zone..."(90-92pts JK)

17341 Château Lafon Rochet - Vintage 1996
St. Estephe
2lbsl (Wines Located in New York)
"We can thank proprietor Alfred Tesseron (also the owner of Pontet-Canet) for turning around the fortunes of Lafon-Rochet. 17344 Château Leoville Barton - Vintage 1994
St. Julien
3lbsl, 2sdc (Wines Located in New York)
"The color is a saturated black/purple to the rim. The wine exhibits an unformed but gloriously sweet nose of black fruits, minerals, lead pencil, licorice, and vanilla. Terrific concentration is immediately evident in this rich, full-bodied, multidimensional wine. Although there are loads of tannin, the overall impression is one of purity, intensity, and stunning richness, all buttressed and defined by adequate acidity and ripe but noticeable tannin."(90pts)
3 bottles per lot $150-200
17345 Château Leoville Barton - Vintage 2000
St. Julien
sdc (Wines Located in New York)
"The saturated purple-colored 2000 Leoville Barton is one of the greatest wines ever made at this estate. The wine has smoky, earthy notes intermixed with graphite, camphor, damp earth, jammy cassis, cedar, and a hint of mushroom. Enormous, even monstrous in the mouth, with tremendous extraction, broodingly backward, dense flavors, and copious tannins, this should prove to be one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage and one of the most compelling Leoville Bartons ever made."(96pts)

17347 Château Lynch Bages - Vintage 1989
Pauillac
1bn, 2lbsl, 2lscl (Wines Located in New York)
"The 1989 has taken forever to shed its formidable tannins, but what a great vintage of Lynch Bages! I would rank it at the top of the pyramid although the 1990, 2000, and down the road, some of the more recent vintages such as 2005, 2009 and 2010 should come close to matching the 1989's extraordinary concentration and undeniable aging potential. Its dense purple color reveals a slight lightening at the edge and the stunning bouquet offers classic notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, oak and graphite. Powerful and rich with some tannins still to shed at age 22.."(99+pts)
2 bottles per lot $500-700
17348 Château Lynch Bages - Vintage 1990
Pauillac

It is clearly the finest Lynch-Bages since the 1989 and 1990."(94pts)

17350 Château Margaux - Vintage 1982
Margaux
1bn, 2ts, 3vlbsl, 2tc (Wines Located in New York)
"We transitioned to the remaining four First Growths in the next flight, beginning with a phenomenal bottle of 1982 Margaux (sourced from Château). The Margaux had a pungent nose, and its t n a jumped out at first. It also had cinnamon, iron, rock and gorgeous perfume. It was beyond licorice according to Dan, and Australian John admired its cherry liqueur. The palate was rocky without the horror but with the picture show, not its usual feminine self, Ray observed. Though spiny and long, the Margaux was still stylish with a touch of that Margaux elegance. This was a great bottle of this wine, and it ended up being wine of the flight, outshowing all the other First Growths."(97pts JK)
3 bottles per lot $1800-2400

17352 Château Monbousquet - Vintage 1996
St. Emilion
5sdc (Wines Located in New York)
"...the opaque purple color and gorgeous nose of sweet blueberries, cassis, and new oak are complemented by the wine's remarkable richness and multi-layered texture. Serious tannin can be detected in this huge, fleshy wine, so look for this wine to take on more definition after 3-4 years of cellaring. It should age well for two decades. Given the owner's commitment to quality, as well as the results he has obtained to date, the price of this wine can only go up, up, and up."(90pts)
6 bottles per lot $300-400

17354 Château Palmer - Vintage 1989
Margaux
1bn, 2bsl, 1ll, 1nl (Wines Located in New York)

2 bottles per lot $600-800

17358 Château Pichon Baron - Vintage 2000
Pauillac
2lbsl (Wines Located in New York)

17363 Château Smith Haut Lafitte - Vintage 1996
Graves
1nl (Wines Located in New York)
"Since its acquisition by the Cathiard family, this property continues to be one of Bordeaux's shining success stories. The 1996 may be the finest wine yet made at the estate, which is saying something given how impressive recent wines have been. The color is a healthy saturated, nearly opaque purple. The nose offers intense aromas of black fruits, beautifully integrated, toasty new oak, minerals, and flowers. This concentrated, impressively delineated wine provides the quintessential marriage of power and finesse, richness without heaviness, purity without blandness, and character without sterility. Medium to full-bodied, and intensely flavorful in the mouth, it does not come across as heavy or overdone. As the wine sits in the glass, it unfolds to offer additional nuances, and an unmistakable perfume of blueberries."(90pts)
