Will of Jacob Yoakum:
“I, Jacob Yoakum, of Hampshire County, Virginia being weak in body but of a sound and perfect memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and this 17 day of August, 1780 in manner and form following:
I will and ordain that all my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and after that I Will and bequeath to my loving wife, Elizabeth, all my real and personal estate whatsoever, during her natural life to enjoy the benefit for herself and her children thereof. In case she remains a widow. But if she should marry, she shall give up all but her third to those which I shall appoint, extrs. saving the third part of the land she shall keep and be the possesser thereof during her life.
I also Will and Ordain that after her decease my children shall be the proper heirs of all it, shall be divided equally amongst them, there shall be no odd nor difference made by no means, but they shall receive each of them an equal part, namely, Michael, Elizabeth, George, Millia, Jacob, Solomon, Matthias and Isaac, excepting one gray horse, 8 yrs old, my son Michael shall be the proper owner thereof.
I do hereby constitute and Ordain George See and Michael See, Extr. to see the same performed according to my meaning and I do hereby revoke and disanul (sic) all and every other former Will by me in any wise before named Will and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written, signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Charles Myer, Jonathan Purcell, Henry Green.”
“At a court held for Hampshire County the 14 day of Nov 1780, this last Will and Testament of Jacob Yoakum, dec'd, was presented in court and proved by the oath of Jonathan Purcell, one of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded and Geo. See and Michael See the Extr. therein named refusing to take upon them the burdhen (sic) of the execution of the said Will, it is ordered that on the motion of Elizabeth Yoakum widow of the said dec'd, she have letters of administration of his estate, she having made oath according to law is entered into bond with Samuel Hornback and Abel Randall, her securities in the penalty of Ten Thousand pounds for her due and faithful administration of the said decendents (sic) estate and performance of his Will.“ Test. “At a court held for Hampshire Co. 13 Day of Mar. 1781, this last Will and Testament of Jacob Yoakum, dec'd was further proved by the oath of Henry Green, another of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be certified.” (Hampshire County, West Virginia Wills, Bk2 p19). Bk2 p27, May 1781, Settlement of Jacob Yoakum estate, 129 lbs. plus.
Executors: George and Michael See.
A Jacob Yocum, son of Matthias, brought his younger brother Matthias into court in Mercer County, Kentucky, as having deceived him in the sale of a house. The case was adjudicated and a judgment of not guilty was rendered in 1792.

The last testament of Michael Yoakam of Liberty Township, Knox County, Ohio. He ordains that “my wife Drusilla Yoakam have during her lifetime full possession of the farm which I have had and still have full power and authority to till and manage the same as she in her judgment sees fit and proper with(out) molestation from any person. And I do further decree and ordain that after the decease of myself and my beloved wife all of my land not otherwise disposed of it being sixty-six and two-thirds acres it also being the East third of the two hundred acre tract which I formerly owned shall be sold at public auction by the Executor hereinafter named...and the avails of the same Divided among my children as follows: to Elizabeth Hornbeck fifty Dollars and the remainder to be equally divided and paid to my four children as follows: to William Yoakam, Jacob Yoakam, John Yoakam and Michael Yoakam Jr. I do further give and bequeath to my beloved wife Drusilla Yoakam all of my personal property of goods and chattels..if after the death of myself and my wife there should be any left of the goods and chattels I do ordain that it shall be equally divided among my children, to wit, William Yoakam, Jacob Yoakam, Elizabeth Hornbeck, Absalom Yoakum, Morgan Decker, Ruth Shinaberry, John Yoakam and Michael Yoakam, Jr.” He then appointed Gilman Bryant as executor of his will.
