Welcome to Hot Shots Cheerleading!

Thanks so much for your interest in the Hot Shots All Star program. Entering our 13th competitive season, Hot Shots has trained athletes of all ages and abilities for more than a decade in the sport of competitive All Star Cheerleading! We are excited about the many opportunities every new competitive season brings with it, and feel confident that season “13” will be an awesome opportunity for us to continue to grow and improve as Northwest Georgia’s longest-running All Star program!

About Us…

Hot Shots Cheerleading and Tumbling Center was formed in February1999 by college cheerleading partners and Berry College graduates Grant Magness and Rachel Harrell. As the first All Star cheer gym in Northwest Georgia, Hot Shots began offering competitive All Star teams in the spring of 2000. In 2003, having experienced incredible program growth, Hot Shots relocated from its original, 3000 square foot facility to a custom built, 10,500 square foot training facility, where we have been located for the last 9 years. In 2011, after working with multiple school programs in the area for several years, Hot Shots opened its second cheerleading center, Hot Shots Chickamauga, located at 50 Industrial Drive. For the 2012-13 season, Hot Shots will be offering full season all star programs in both locations for athletes ages 4-18!
Grant and Rachel have been married since 2001, and welcomed their first daughter, Annabelle Grace, in January 2009, and their second daughter, Violette Faith, in June 2012. In addition to being gym owners, Grant has served as Director of Youth Ministries at Trinity United Methodist Church in Rome since 1996. In 2008, Rachel was hired by Shorter College as head coach to begin its competitive cheerleading program. In her first 4 years of collegiate coaching, Rachel has led the Shorter University Cheerhawks to 4 consecutive NCA Collegiate National Championships.
INTRODUCING REGGIE C!
Hot Shots is EXCITED to INTRODUCE our new All Star program director for the 2012-13 season, Mr. Reggie Corpening. A native of central Florida(by way of Ohio), Reggie attended Umatilla High School in Umatilla, Florida where he received honors such as the Humanitarian Award, Scholar Athlete Award, was voted “Most Athletic” by his peers, and selected as an “Outstanding Senior” by his teachers. Reggie began his collegiate cheerleading career at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where he led his team to two first place championship titles in the NCCAA and FCC Championships. He was also selected as a First Teams leader, a select small meeting group organized by the institution.
In the summer of 2009, Reggie was recruited by Head Coach Rachel Magness to Shorter University on an athletic cheerleading scholarship. As a lead stunter on the Large Coed Cheerhawks team, Reggie was a two time NCA Collegiate National Finalist, including National Runner Up in 2010. Reggie was also the main stunter for multiple NCA Collegiate All Americans from the Shorter University program from 2009-2011. Reggie spent his final semester at Shorter as an FCA huddle leader and team mentor to the 2011-12 National Champion Cheerhawks. A 2011 graduate of Shorter University, Reggie has coached at Hot Shots for 3 years and is excited about his new position as All Star Director.

WHY CHAMPIONS CHOOSE HOT SHOTS CHEERLEADING!

Hot Shots is the FIRST all star program of Northwest Georgia, training competitive All Star teams since 1999! This makes us one of the longest running, most established All Star programs in the state of Georgia. Particularly in an industry known for “musical chair” turnover among coaches and owners from year to year, it says a lot about the nature of the Hot Shots program that the same owners who founded it more than 13 years ago are the same owners you find running the gym to this day, Grant and Rachel Magness. The Hot Shots All Star program is built on a commitment to long term relationships with our athletes and a long term vision for our cheerleading community. At the 2011 NCA College National Championship, Grant and Rachel had the opportunity to watch one of their former All Stars, himself having won multiple collegiate national championships as a competitor, actually COACH his first collegiate national championship team. This represents the full spectrum of the Hot Shots All Star program.

Hot Shots is the WINNINGEST All Star program in Northwest Georgia, with more than 125 All Star Championship Titles! If you add in all the GHSA Region and State Championship Titles, not to mention NCA and NAIA collegiate National Championship titles, that have been coached, choreographed, and won by the Hot Shots staff, it comes to more than 125 All Star Championship titles, 4 NGAC Championship titles, 8 GHSA Region Championship titles, 5 GHSA State Championship titles, 1 AHSA State Championship title, 3 NCA Collegiate National Championship titles, and one NAIA Collegiate National Championship title! From Level 1 All Star to GHSA State Champion to NCA Collegiate National Champion, there is no level of competitive cheerleading at which the Hot Shots staff have not coached, choreographed, and won REPEATEDLY. No other program in the region can come close to this record of achievement across a full spectrum of ability levels for more than a decade.

Last but certainly not least, Hot Shots is one of the few All Star programs in the country that believes the maximum athletic development of our athletes is the number one goal and priority of our program. Typical All Star programs want to put athletes in skill levels where they compete down to skills that are LOWER than that of which they are capable. These programs will talk all about “the importance of mastering and perfecting the levels”, “everybody does it”, or “playing to win”, but in the end, it is about a gym choosing to make itself look good at the expense of the athletic development of its all stars. At Hot Shots, our singular focus is advancing our kids’ skills to the highest possible levels, and then giving them the opportunity to face awesome competition at these levels! The result is that an incredible percentage of our athletes go on to make their middle school teams, where they help lead their teammates to NGAC middle school championships, and to make their high school teams, where they lead their teammates to GHSA Region and State Championships, and to make their college teams, where they lead their teammates to Collegiate National Championships, and eventually even go on to COACH their own collegiate national championship team! We believe that “competition breeds excellence”, that “to be the best you have to beat the best”, which is why CHAMPIONS choose Hot Shots! “We Play Up!”

ALL STAR PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS:

Athlete Responsibilities:

  1. Respect your coaches, respect your teammates, respect yourself.

  2. Be at practice/competitions on time, ready to work, everytime.

  3. Understand that “WE” comes before “Me”.

  4. Never, never, never, never quit.

Parent Responsibilities:

  1. Get your athlete to practices and competitions on time.

  2. Pay your dues on time.

  3. Support your coaches, your team, your athlete, everytime.

  4. Dress out in team colors and yell like crazy from the second we take the floor until they drag us off the floor!

Attendance:

Teams practice twice a week for 1.5/2 hours each. Attendance at all scheduled events is mandatory. Athletes who miss practice will have a mandatory conditioning workout to complete as a make-up. Repeated absences will not be tolerated and will warrant removal from the team(no refund). “Competitions are won at practice.” If you cannot commit to regular attendance at All Star practices, this is not the program for you.

Conflicts:

With proper communication between athletes and coaches, we can avoid almost any conflict. We train All Stars each year from some of the most successful GHSA cheer programs in the state of Georgia, and our program runs “conflict free” with these school programs year after year. We minimize conflicts by selecting our all star schedule around the existing school commitments of our All Stars and then holding to this schedule throughout the season. We also understand that school/church commitments can arise and create unforeseen practice conflicts. As such, we ask our All Stars to give us two weeks notice of any developing conflict, and we are glad to work with the entire team to reschedule accordingly. We cannot promise to work around conflicts arising inside of two weeks, as this limits our ability to properly notify all team members involved.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Training Fee: $148/month for 11 months

($1628 total season, includes all training, competition fees, and choreography)

Monthly fees for the Hot Shots All Star program 2012-13 are $148/month. These payments will be done via automatic debit on the 15th of each month for a total of 11 months, beginning May 15th, 2012 and ending March 15th, 2013. Payment can be made for the season in full at a 5% discount. Monthly fees include all training, choreography, and competition fees. Monthly fee does not include travel and uniform costs.
Travel Fee: $150 per All Star (one-time fee, max of $200 per family)

This $150 fee is to offset the cost of All Star coaches’ travel, meals, and lodging for 2012-13 All Star events. This travel fee is due October 1. If you have more than one All Star in the program, your total fee maxes out at $200. All personal travel to and from competitive events is the responsibility of each All Star Family. Hot Shots will contact and negotiate the best group rates possible at reasonably priced hotels for each competition venue, but payments for transportation and lodging is the responsibility of the individual all star family.

Uniform Fee: $250/competition uniform(if needed)

$75 practice uniform (all athletes, due June 1)

Hot Shots is not changing competition uniforms this season, so if you already own a uniform, you will not need to buy one. For All Stars needing a new uniform, these are available for $250. Used uniforms are priced at $150 and are offered based on availability. Uniform sizing dates are listed on the All Star calendar. Used uniform sale dates will be announced after team selection. Payment for new competition uniforms is due in the office no later than August 1, 2012.

All Stars will also be sized for their 2012-13 practice uniforms. These will include two shirts and two shorts per all star. Practice Uniform payment is due on June 1.

*Optional accessories include warmup tops and bottoms, team bags, and competition shoes. These items are encouraged but not required for All Star participation. Families are free to make the decision that is best for them on the purchase of these additional items. All Stars will need a pair of white competition cheer shoes, but are welcome to use shoes they already have if they are in good shape.

We do not intend to deviate from this schedule, but are aware that there are circumstances beyond our control that can demand adjustments. In the event that changes are necessary, we will communicate that information to you as soon as possible. We will also expect our athletes and families to do everything in their power to accommodate schedule changes. We do everything in our power to design our program in a way that encourages and supports our athletes involvement in school cheerleading, church youth group, etc., but there is no getting around the fact that All Stars is a MAJOR commitment, which means it must be treated as a MAJOR priority.
