which is an occupational health awareness initiative aimed at young people who are soon to enter the workplace. The TUC have been trying to raise Health as a major issue for years so the project is extremely interesting. Approximately 1.2 million people suffered from work related illness last year, many of these cases are long latency work-related diseases. Many of these cases lead to premature deaths and unnecessary suffering, but all can be simply prevented. Whilst it’s too late for many of us and damaged may have been caused years ago we can prevent the next generations being put to the sword by unscrupulous employers or ignorance. One issue the young people had raised was on clearance time – for example, a vehicle paint sprayer lifting his “lid” as soon as he has stopped spraying is still breathing in the fumes that have not cleared.
