ALLOTMENT SOPs – NUST HOSTELS

Introduction

  1. Nust hostels have been established for the out station National and International students. Hostels are providing hygienic and pleasant environment and are equipped with all amenities for standard living. Fourteen hostels have been built in the main campus of NUST (9 for male and 5 for female) which have capacity to accommodate 3500 students. Hostel accommodation will be allotted to outstation students only who get admission in any School/Institute at NUST Main campus Islamabad.

2. Students are required to apply on prescribed form (may be downloaded from (www.nust.edu.pk.) or obtainable from Hostel Branch office. Hostel accommodation will be allotted by Deputy Director Hostels depending on availability of seats. On filling of accommodation request, applicants will be put on waiting list.

3. Eligibility Criteria for Allotment. Students registered for statutory courses in the University (Islamabad Campus only) will be eligible to avail the facility of NUST Hostels. Hostel seats are provided to the students on merit who fulfill the following criteria and requirements lay down and embodied in the Hostel Rules & Regulations:-



  1. NUST provides hostel accommodation essentially to the outstation students on first come first serve basis.

  2. Priority shall be given to the following students belonging to:-

  1. Disabled / Special students

  2. SAT International

  3. Overseas

  4. Balochistan

  5. Sindh

  6. FATA

  7. Gilgit Baltistan

  8. PhD Scholars

  9. Southern Punjab (Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G Khan, Layyah, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur)

  10. Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Athmuqam, Hattian Bala, Haveli /
    Kahota)

  11. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (D.I Khan, Chitral)

  12. Freezing Cases

    1. Deferment

    2. Medical

    3. Exchange Program

  1. Remaining students will be allotted on first come first serve basis. First the waiting list of previous year will be accommodated.

c. Students transferred from one NUST Institute to H-12 Campus
Islamabad will get the seniority of the original date of application whose certificate to the effect will be required (except MCE).

d. On Campus duration:



  1. BS Programs (4 years).

  2. MS Programs (2 years).

  3. Ph.D. (3 years).

e. Compassionate Ground

  1. Medical Cases Student desirous for hostel accommodation on medical grounds must submit medical documents along with the hostel admission form. The hostel branch will forward the case to Medical Dte for opinion.

  2. Need based Students who are unable to afford accommodation charges due to financial issues can apply through UAO Office when they are enrolled in the University.

4. Ineligible Criteria

  1. Residents of Islamabad / Rawalpindi and nearby areas.

  2. Rusticated students from NUST.

  3. Expelled from hostel.

  4. After Completion of Degree.

Note:

Hostel Accommodation will stand cancelled (in addition to a levy of fine) if any resident shares false information for availing hostel accommodation. (See section 5 Allotment of Hostel Accommodation).

5. Duration of Students Stay. Stay of the Students, who are granted admission in the hostels in H-12 Campus, will be:-

a. Post Graduate Students

(1) The students will be allowed to stay in the Hostel for on-campus duration of their Programs.

(2) Six months first extension beyond on-campus duration is allowed to students, if they provide a certificate to the Hostel administration duly countersigned by Institute / authority that he / she has not yet completed the degree requirements and that he / she is not employed anywhere.

(3) For initial six months extension, students will directly apply to DD Hostels through his / her Institutions. Pro-Rector (P&R) will be the approving authority for the required extension.

(4) Students desirous for special extension beyond above stated period will forward their request duly recommended by Head of Institute to PGP Dte. PGP Dte will assess the requirement of the student on merit and process the case for special extension to Pro-Rector (P&R), which will not be more than 06 months period.

b. Under Graduate Students. UG students will only avail Hostel facility for the duration of their on campus study.

6. Temporary Hostel Allotment. Temporary allotment facility will be provided only to those students, who are currently registered in main campus of NUST, depending on availability of accommodation. Students applying for shorter duration (not more than a week) will be granted permission to avail the facility on case to case basis. Application form is available in Hostels Branch Office which must contain the signature of parents (Father / Mother / Guardian). Hostels Administration reserves the right to extend his/her temporary allotment stay that will be dependent on case to case basis. Hostel Rules will be followed by temporary students in its true spirit.



7. The Hostel allotment plan will be implemented with immediate effect.
