FACT SHEET

____________________________________________________________________________
Argosy University, Chicago traces its history to 1976 as the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and is the original campus of the American Schools of Professional Psychology. In September 2002, Argosy Education Group, owner of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, officially launched Argosy University, Chicago.
Argosy University consists of 28 campus locations across the United States and also offers degree programs online. The university was formed in September 2001 by the merging of three separate academic institutions. The American School of Professional Psychology was founded in the early 1970s by a group of psychologists, educators, and other professionals who called for a clinical psychology degree that emphasized teaching and practical training over the research-oriented approach of the traditional PhD degree. The University of Sarasota had for more than 30 years offered degree programs in business and education to working adults through a delivery format that mixed distance learning and brief, intensive on-campus study periods. Responding to the emerging needs of the medical community, the Medical Institute of Minnesota was established in 1961 to prepare skilled allied healthcare personnel for careers in the booming medical technology fields. In 2012, Argosy University welcomed Western State College of Law at Argosy University and the College of Creative Arts and Design. Western State is the oldest law school in Southern California. It is a private law school fully approved by the American Bar Association and has a large base of 11,000+ alumni. The College of Creative Arts and Design educates creative professionals in the fields of design, media arts, culinary and fashion.
