ATHENS GENERAL PROGRAMME :

Living arrangements and European Dimension Activities Planned in PARIS for the

November 2011 Session

For Foreign Student Participants
During the 8-day ATHENS Session each student will be devoting the majority of his/her time to following the scientific course he/she has selected.

As a Socrates based Programme, each ATHENS Session also includes a certain number of social-cultural activities which are listed below. These activities are also part of the Programme: students are required to participate.

Prior to coming don’t forget:
A)Your National Identity Card or passport, and Home University Student Card. You will need to show these documents frequently during your stay.
B) You are responsible for being insured during the session (contact your insurance to know how to do in case of).
C) Consult the housing list: if you have requested housing. ParisTech will place you at one of the 2 following residences :

  • at the CISP (Centre International de Séjour de Paris), 17, boulevard KELLERMANN, 75013 Paris (with 2, 3 or 8 beds to a room )

  • or at the Formule 1 hotel , 21-23 Avenue de la Porte de Chatillon, 75014 Paris (2 students to a room).

Please consult the list (by clicking here) which indicates where each student (who has requested housing) is housed. This document indicates the type of room each student has been given. Please understand that Paris was asked to house more than 200 students. Given the difficulty for the residence administration to manage such a large population, students are not allowed to change rooms during their stay.

  • Concerning payment, all students must pay the residence where they are housed on arrival and in order to have access to their room.

a/ Those students housed at the CISP/Kellermann must pay their entire stay on arrival either in cash or credit card. Towels are provided. Prices, which also include breakfast, are :

  • for 2 persons with shower room (toilets outside): 28,50 € per night and per person

  • for 3 persons with shower and toilets room: 28,50 € per night and per person

  • for 8 persons room: 21,80 € per night and per person

b/ Those students housed at the Formule 1 must pay for their entire stay on arrival either in cash or with one of the following credit cards : Visa, Eurocard, American Express. Towels are provided. Prices are 47 € per night for a room for 2 students (23,50 per student) and 3,90 € for breakfast for each student. This makes a total of 27,40 € per night for each student.
Students should be aware that in such residences where people from many destinations arrive and depart, they should be particularly careful with their valuables and personal belongings. Objects of value should be placed in the residence safe.

IMPORTANT: At the Formule 1 hotel, because of computer registration difficulties, the first student arriving will be asked to pay the entire price of the room. He/she will get reimbursed for the half of the room by the second student who will share the room with him/her.

D) Bring 30 € in cash to pay for the European Dimension Activities presented later in this document and 5 € for the farewell Friday evening party (to avoid change problems, please bring the exact money).
E) Carefully select your level for the guided visits of the Latin Quarter planned during the afternoon of Saturday November 12 and those proposed for the morning of Sunday, November 13 because the number of places is limited. REMEMBER YOUR GROUP NUMBER!
The official visits proposed will be organised in English. Consult the “visit descriptions” in order to have a summary of the various visits (by clicking here).
A Word about Transportation in PARIS :

A weekly travel pass called “Pass Navigo Découverte” can also be bought at any metro station: the price of the pass itself is 5 € and for one week everywhere in zones 1 and 2 from Monday to Sunday it costs 18,85 € (don’t forget to bring an identity photo 25x30 mm with you for the pass).

For students going to Ecole des Ponts ParisTech (ENPC), you will need to buy a weekly “Pass Navigo Découverte”, covering travel zones 1 to 4 at 5 € + 29,80 € = 34,80 €.
