| Other Scholarly Activities
High Temperature Materials Laboratory
Established the High Temperature Materials Laboratory in the Mechanical Science and Engineering Department. This is a unique facility with computer controlled test machines for strain, load, environmental (vacuum), and temperature control. A high pressure intensifier is purchased to study material behavior at high pressures. Professor Sehitoglu expanded the activities to test miniature pumps and thin films. Recent emphasis has been on high resolution strain measurements. Some of these capabilities are also outlined in the research articles.
Director, Fracture Control Program
This is a consortium of ground vehicle companies. The main emphasis in the program is fatigue of metals.
