Thursday November 30: After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast we will depart the Hotel for Historical Boston, the Capital of and largest City in Massachusetts. It is also one of the oldest cities in the United States. As the largest City in New England, Boston is regarded as the unofficial “Capital of New England” for its economic and cultural impact on the entire New England region.

Arriving mid-morning there will be free time for shopping and lunch on your own at QUINCY MARKET. For over 250 years the marketplace has played an integral role in the life of Boston’s residents. You will feel the cobblestones beneath your feet, see roaming performers and be able to taste the wonderfully diverse ethnic foods available to you. There are 100 shops, carts and artisans that offer treasures for you to take home with you.

Early Afternoon – It’s time for BOSTON’S STOCKING STUFFER TOUR. We will meet our COLONIAL CHARACTER GUIDE who will tour you through historic Boston. Hear Narration about Boston’s historic sites and holiday traditions. Guests will get a STOCKING GIFT at each stop. You will also hear about a time when Colonial Bostonian’s didn’t celebrate Christmas. The Puritans outlawed it and charged a fine if people were caught celebrating! This is a fun and Spirited Way to enjoy the holidays in the City! (4 stocking gifts and a stocking for everyone)

A visit to OLD NORTH CHURCH is included. This is the site where a sexton (a person who takes care of a Church and rings the bells, etc.) Robert Newman climbed the steeple to hang the two lanterns which were the signal to PAUL REVERE. It was the warning that the BRITISH were marching upon Lexington and

Concord to seize the colonialist’s military stores there. This led to the “shot Heard around the world” in Concord and started the American Revolution on that fateful night of April 18, 1775. The Church was built in 1723 and is the oldest Church in Boston, is still in operation and has an active congregation.

Late afternoon we will check into the Colonnade Hotel for a two night stay. Our Local Guide will meet us here at the Hotel for our evening activities..
A Group Dinner will be included this evening along with the Christmas Event we have all been waiting for, perhaps the one that best signals the official kick off to the holiday season the lighting of the City’s official “CHRISTMAS TREE” on the Boston Commons. This Tree Lighting is always a local event, covered live on TV, featuring special guests.. The Balsam Fir is annually donated to the City of Boston BY NOVA SCOTIA. 2017 MARKS THE 46th YEAR that this CANADIAN PROVINCE

has given a Tree to the people of Boston as thanks for relief efforts following the DECEMBER 6, 1917 (100 YEARS AGO) explosion of a munitions ship in the Halifax

Harbour. Within 24 hours of the disaster a Train loaded with supplies & emergency personnel was making its way from Boston to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

You will see these famous windows with the lavender tint caused from a chemical defect in the original clear glass – now a status symbol! Walk with your BEACON HILL “TOUR GUIDE” (home owner) down cobbled streets
