Human Authentication: On Twitter, Musk referred to spam bots as the "single most annoying problem." Bots, which frequently promote cryptocurrency-based scams these days, storm users' feeds in an attempt to entice potential victims. Currently, Musk appears to think that the best alternative to the bot problem is to verify "all real humans," or to have profiles openly linked to other personal information, such as a phone number, an email address, or a photo. However, this idea has enraged many Twitter users who enjoy the app precisely because of its anonymity. The removal of anonymity may endanger people in minority groups, such as racial minorities and members of the LGBT+ community. Implementing a strategy that calls for human authentication may dissuade users from using the platform which will in turn further push advertisers away from the platform and spend money on influencers who operate on a larger scale on apps such as Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
