Bus/Rail Retail Testing Manager



Reports To:
Senior Retail Systems Manager
Overall Purpose:
In conjunction with Senior Retail Systems Manager, responsible for the day to day testing requirements of Stagecoach Bus & Rail Retail Systems, ensuring that regular dialogue is maintained with suppliers and that all systems are fully tested following software releases and upgrades prior to being released for use in the live environment.

Delegated from Group IT
Key Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for testing of the following retail systems on Bus & Rail ensuring that all necessary UAT is carried out on all systems and that any issues identified are communicated back to the suppliers in a timely manner.

Machine/System numbers:-

    • S&B Ticket Vending Machines

    • S&B Automatic Ticket Gates

    • Fujitsu Star Booking Office Ticket Issuing System

    • Avantix Mobile On Train Ticket Issuing System and Thyron

    • Cubic Automatic Ticket Gates

    • ITSO Smartcard Ticketing System including validators, back office systems, Handy 440 ticket Inspection Devices (Bus and Rail)

    • Parkeon ToDler Ticket on departure only ticket vending machine

    • Parkeon Pay on Foot Car Parking Machines

    • Metric Car Parking credit card only machines

    • Metric Pertis machines

    • Bus ETM

    • TRACS




  • Maintain test scripts during testing cycles and ensure they are updated as required and that identified bugs are effectively rectified and re-tested

  • Undertake all necessary testing protocols when required to ensure that any software/hardware releases are fully tested prior to release into the live environment

  • Work closely with other members of Retail Systems team and Systems Test Manager

  • Provide support and assistance where required to the EMT Retail Systems team as required


The jobholder will be:


  • A self-motivated, IT literate Application support professional with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience supporting complex Retail systems and infrastructures, utilising structured incident and problem management support processes.



Qualifications / Knowledge and Experience:


  • Worked within a large retail or applications IT support environment – Transportation an advantage.

  • Experience of testing at UAT level

  • Have a structured and diligent approach to problem logging and resolution.

  • Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Possess excellent problem solving skills.

  • Possess excellent organisational skills.

General

The post holder will provide testing support to the Bus and Rail retail system environments ensuring effective testing protocols are in place and utilised to ensure all systems are fully tested.


The post holder will be a dedicated and highly motivated individual having the ability to work under pressure and on their own initiative with minimal supervision. The role operates in a rapidly changing environment and the post holder will have experience of managing complex technical issues through to resolution and close.
Due to the nature of the role there will be a requirement for working away from the main office location to support testing and roll out programmes at Stagecoach and suppliers offices.
