CHURCH LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION II. Leadership Principles Missionaries are called to lead in establishing missions. Also, missionaries may need to select leaders for new churches. It is important to apply certain principles in leading. Let us examine some leadership principles and their Scriptural bases. A. Following God Rather than People. Acts 4:1-20; 1 Corinthians 3:3,4,11. As a leader in a church, you are ultimately responsible to God. There maybe influential and powerful people in the church or outside the church who will try to get you to act contrary to Scripture or contrary to what you know is God’s will. You maybe forced to make a decision between following God or following people. Follow God. When the Apostles Peter and John were commanded by the Sanhedrin (Jewish Ruling Council) to speak in the name of Jesus, they replied,
Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God.
