CAPTAIN STEVEN M. CARLISLE

UNITED STATES NAVY


A native of Bend, Oregon, Captain Steven M. Carlisle began his Naval career in 1981 as an Aviation Electronics Technician and completed tours with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE HUNDRED TEN (VAW-110) and Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE HUNDRED FOURTEEN (VAW-114) aboard the USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70). He graduated from National University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and received his commission through Aviation Officer Candidate School in 1988.


His first operational assignment was to Patrol Squadron SIX (VP-6) stationed at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii in 1990. During this tour he completed deployments to Adak, Alaska and Misawa, Japan.
In 1993, Captain Carlisle reported to Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30), Jacksonville, Florida as a Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Instructor. While assigned to VP-30 he served as the NFO Training Officer.
Captain Carlisle reported to Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group TWO (CCDG-2) staff, Norfolk, Virginia in 1996. There he served as the George Washington Battle Group Communications Officer. During this tour Captain Carlisle qualified as Flag Tactical Action Officer, C2W Watch Officer and made two deployments to the Persian Gulf.
In 1998 he reported to Captain Patrol and Reconnaissance Force Atlantic as the Current Operations Officer and the Battle Group Integration Officer.
He returned to Jacksonville, Florida in 2000 for duty with Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN (VP-16). While assigned he served as CTG Operations Officer, OIC Patron Keflavik and Maintenance Officer. During this tour, he completed a split site deployment to Keflavik, Iceland and Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico.
In 2002 he reported to Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30), Jacksonville, Florida as the Training Officer.
Transferring to the Joint Staff in 2004, Captain Carlisle served as a Action Officer in the Command, Control, Communications, and Computer Systems Directorate (J6). He completed his Command tour in Special Projects Patrol Squadron TWO (VPU-2), May 2008, and transferred to CPRG.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (6 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various other unit and service awards.
CAPT Carlisle is married to former Angela Bingham of Greensboro, North Carolina. They have three children James, Jordan and Aidan.
