Pennies for Patients Results

Thank you to everyone that participated in Pennies for Patients. With your help we raised a total of $602. to help fight leukemia and lymphoma and support cancer patients. The winning class is Mr. Musella’s T/TH 4th period 9th grade seminar. Congratulations! They will receive a pizza party as their reward.


National Honor Society

NHS is hosting this year’s annual food drive, beginning this Friday, March 11th to April 1st. Please bring non-perishable food items like canned goods and peanut butter to the box in the front office. Please check the expiration date of the items before donating. Thanks!


AOC’s March Madness

Hello students. AOC is having its first ever basketball tournament on March 18th from 6:00 – 9:00PM at West Ranch HS in the large gym. Each class can have two teams and each team will have a maximum of six players. The winning team will win their class Krispy Kreme donuts. Signups will be at the front counter on Thursday at lunch.


Open House

Students, be sure to remind your parents that Open House is this Thursday, March 10th, from 6:30 to 8:00PM.


Senior Baby Photos Wanted!

Seniors! Don’t be left out! It’s your last chance to submit your baby pictures for the Senior Slideshow! Please give them to Miss Ruiz by March 31st. You can submit any digital copies to jruiz@hartdistrict.org


Federal Careers Day at COC

4th Annual Pre-Health Symposium

The American Medical Student Association at COC is presenting their 4th Annual Pre-Health Symposium on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 8:30am-2:00pm in the UCEN. Admission is FREE. RSVP is required to attend.

Student Poll Workers

Any student, age 16 or older, who is interested in working as a student poll worker in the June 7th election, please see Mrs. Rubay for an application. Space is limited so don’t delay.


AOC Tutors

Tutors are available for all students any day of the week from 7:45-3:00 in the computer lab. Walk in appointments are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Or to ensure a tutor, you may sign up to reserve one. See Mrs. Melillo or Dr. Shapiro for appointment times.


AOC Honors English/Social Studies Exam

Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders wanting to get into the Honors English/Social Studies Program for the 2016-2017 school year have to take the Honors Placement Exam. This year's exam is Saturday, April 16th at 8am. Interested students have to register for the exam no later than 3pm on Friday, April 1st. To register, go to the AOC website, click on the Academics tab, click on Honors Info, and read about the program and test date instructions. Click Honors Placement Exam Registration HERE to register. 


Wanted: COC Textbooks

If you have recently purchased COC textbooks that you would like to donate to AOC’s lending library, please bring them to Mrs. Davidson.


Important Reminder

Please remember that AOC students are not allowed in the 2nd or 3rd floor lounge areas of the University Center. You may sit in the Café but not in the UCEN Lobby or patio area. Please follow the rules!

Biology and Chemistry Olympiad

The Biology and Chemistry Olympiad Club meets in room 105 at lunch on Mondays.

The book club will hold its next meeting on Thursday, March 10th at lunch in room 107.  Do you like to read?  Please feel free to join us!


Engineering and Computer Science Club

The Engineering and Computer Science Club is busy writing code for its Raspberry Pi computer.  Come to our next meeting on Thursday, March 10th to learn what it's all about! We meet at lunch in the Computer Lab. 
Debate Club

Debate Club will meet again on Friday, March 11th at lunch in room 107.


International Club

Immerse yourself in different cultures with international films, presentations and food! Come to International Club on Mondays in room 105. No passport is needed!

 

Journalism Club

Calling all writers, editors and artists! Join in creating the next edition of our newsletter, the AOC Leaflet, on Mondays at lunch in room 104.
Math Club

Math Club meets on Tuesdays in room 109 at lunch!  Come join the mathtastical fun!


Math Tutoring Club

Having trouble in Math?  Math peer-tutoring club has got your back!  We meet Wednesdays and Thursdays and lunch in room 104. Come to learn, or come to tutor and earn hours toward volunteer work!


Model United Nations

If you’re interested in politics, world affairs or debate, you should come check out this club. Meetings are in room 109 on Mondays at lunch.


NHS

NHS meets on the third Friday of each month.


Off the Leash Club

The Off the Leash Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, March 9th, at lunch in room 107.
Project Linus

If you would like to join this awesome club, we meet regularly on Mondays at lunch in room 103 to make blankets for critically ill and traumatized children. We will teach you everything you need to know!  





Strategic Games Club

Strategic Games Club meets on Wednesdays in room 107 at lunch. Come play games with us!


Student Task Force

STF meets on Thursdays in room 106 at lunchtime.
