Charles William Sprott died suddenly of a heart attack in Atlanta, Georgia on April 15, 1986. Charley was raised in Stoneham, Mass. While at Dartmouth he was a history major, very genial member of Phi Gamma Delta, and a leading member of the hockey team. He captained the team for the 1956-1957 season. Following graduation he entered the U.S. Marine Corps where, in his own words, he scared himself as a helicopter pilot for five years.

After the service he began a lifetime career with United Parcel Service. Although he lived in sunny 'Hotlanta', somehow he found local hockey programs to support. At the time of his death he was in charge of labor relations for UPS in the southeast region. He was survived by his wife Carol "Donnie" and four children. Gifts in his memory were to the Dartmouth Hockey Program.
