S O C I A L S C E N E

Although numbers were down this year, those that did attend the Annual Dinner and Awards Evening at the end of January thoroughly enjoyed themselves and thought the meal, provided by our resident host, John, and his family was excellent.

As you know, next year is the Club’s Centenary and the Annual Dinner and Awards Evening will be held at the RAC Club in Pall Mall. Regular updates from the Centenary Sub-Committee will be included in future issues of the magazine.

When the last issue went to press a couple of the Middlesex Challenge award winners were not known so, to complete the records, the additional winners were:-

Lady Champion: Jo Foley and

Best Newcomer: Christine Wooster.

Also, as you know, some of the Club Awards are kept secret until they are presented and this year was no exception. The (un)lucky recipient of the Bengt Armco Award, for the silliest accident, was Rodger (Max) Maxwell and the result can be seen on the MCAC web page.

The Riddell Cup, for the Best Newcomer to the sport, went to Jo Foley, who not only managed to win a few awards in her first year as a driver but also managed to finish third in the Middlesex Challenge, beating most of the fellers!

In recognition of all the work involved in bringing the website up to date, and keeping it that way, the Presidents Award was won by a very surprised Malcolm Farmer.

If you have any ideas of activities that can be arranged for Club nights or would like to volunteer to organize something for a Partners Night, please let me know so that we can vary the programme of activities.

Last, but by no means least, the AGM is on April 21st and that is your chance to have a say in the running of your Club, or even consider standing for the Council. Any nominations for Council have to be with Andy Greenland at least 4 days before the AGM – i.e. by 17th April at the latest.
