Outreach Coordinator

Position Description


This position will provide services for the Alternative Break Program, a student led service program during Thanksgiving, Spring, May, and Weekend Breaks, but also the annual programming efforts for Active Citizen Week. Strong candidates for the position must be detail oriented, have good facilitation and interpersonal skills, and have both web and print based advertising skills. Experience with Adobe products and both Mac and PC skills are recommended.
The hourly wage position requires a commitment of 9 flexible hours per for the 2014-2015 academic year. Part of these hours require attendance at weekly ABP staff meetings, bi-monthly one on one meetings with your supervisor, and bi-monthly CS-L all staff meetings. Next academic year, you will return to school early for fall student staff training, participate in the fall AB student leader retreat (mid-semester), and participate in a staff service event in the spring semester. During this semester, you will begin shadowing the current AB Outreach Coordinators and attend a one-time retreat for new AB staff near the end of the semester. One position is available for the 2014-2015 academic year.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.

Active participation in the Spring 2014 visioning retreat and shadowing and Fall 2014 staff training in August (prior to fall semester start).

2.

Pending funding, active participation in a week-long summer Alternative Break Citizenship School’s training conference sponsored by Break Away (funded by Community Service- Learning).

3.

Maintain 9 hours per week. This includes a minimum of 4 office hours for administrative tasks/office coverage/staff meetings, and 5 hours for campus development, club/org meeting visits (including CAB in Residence Halls), Classroom visits, creating and/or posting publicity.

4.

Organize and facilitate advertising and recruitment for ABP leaders and participants throughout the year, paying special attention to underrepresented groups. (This includes preparing and facilitating student info sessions)

5.

Create and make reservations for table tents, breeze ads, general publications, chalking, sandwich boards, banners, fliers, eboards, commons days, presenting in classes, 1787, club/org meetings etc, and all other types of advertising to get the word out about participating with the Alternative Break Program.

6.

Prepare and staff CSL/ABP info booths throughout the academic year (i.e. Commons Days, ISAT Days, CHOICES, etc.)

7.

Update the office white board calendar.

8.

Assist with ABP webpage maintenance.

9.

Participate in the Alternative Break Trip Leader Retreat (fall).

10.

Actively participate in weekly ABP, bi-weekly one-on-one meetings, and actively participate and share in the facilitation of in bi-monthly CS-L staff meetings.

11.

Plan and execute Active Citizen Week in the Spring semester (including advertising, solidifying events, securing speakers, reserving space, etc).

12.

Maintain regular and ongoing contact with students, faculty, and community agencies to facilitate effective matching of needs and resources.

13.

Actively participate and/or facilitate during required ABP and/or CS-L staff meetings, civic engagement activities, staff committees, and retreats.

14.

Provide customer service to all visitors, faculty, staff and students and share in the office duties as necessary to promote the functioning of CS-L.

15.

Participate in staff evaluation process each semester.

16.

Assist with other duties as assigned.
