Configuring Your Device for Internet Access

When connecting to YC Wifi Guest, you will need to enter a proxy server address in order to access the internet.



Internet Explorer

Select the Tools menu and then Internet Options menu.



Select the Connections Tab from the Internet Options

Select the LAN Settings button.

Enter the following details in the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings

Tick the checkbox “Use a proxy server for your LAN”
Set the address to: 10.2.0.15
Set the port to: 8081

Tick the checkbox “Bypass proxy server for local address”



Click OK to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings box.

Click OK to close the Internet Options box.

You should now be able to access the Internet through YC Wifi Guest.

When you’re not connected to the YC Wifi Guest, you will need to uncheck the “Use a proxy server for you LAN” checkbox otherwise you might have issues accessing the internet when away from the college.

Firefox

Select the Orange Firefox button from the top left hand corner of the Firefox browser.


Select the Options button, and the Options Menu.

Select the Advanced button and select the Network Tab.

Select the Settings button.

Tick the Manual proxy configuration option box.

Enter the HTTP Proxy address: 10.2.0.15
Enter the Port number: 8081

Click OK to save the setting.

Click OK again to close the Options settings box.

You should now be able to access the Internet through YC Wifi Guest.

When you’re not connected to the YC Wifi Guest, you will need to select the “No Proxy” checkbox otherwise you might have issues accessing the internet when away from the college.

Google Chrome

Select the Google Chrome Option tab.

Select the Settings button from the menu.

Scroll down the Settings page and click on the “Show advanced settings..” link.



Scroll down the page until you find the “Change proxy settings button”



Select the “Change proxy settings” button.


Select the Connections Tab from the Internet Options
Select the LAN Settings button.

Enter the following details in the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings

Tick the checkbox “Use a proxy server for your LAN”
Set the address to: 10.2.0.15
Set the port to: 8081

Tick the checkbox “Bypass proxy server for local address”



Click OK to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings box.

Click OK to close the Internet Options box.

You should now be able to access the Internet through YC Wifi Guest.

Insert Server and Port numbers as shown

Change HTTP Proxy to Manual

Ensure Authentication is set to OFF

Access to Wireless from Macbooks

Open System Preferences then Select Network. Select Airport in the panel in the left then click the Advanced tab then click the Proxies tab.




Select Network

Select Airport (Assuming Airport is Turned On)


Select Airport

Select the “YCWiFi_Guest" network from the Network Name drop down menu

Select Advanced

Select Proxy

Then insert 10.2.0.15 in the Proxy Server box & 8081 in the port box immediately to its right (as shown)
