im Maconaghy begins his 11th year serving the conference as its Coordinator of Officials. The Plymouth Hill, Pa., native has been involved in officiating at the Football Championship Subdivision level since 1986 when he was part of the officials bureau for the Ivy and Patriot League as well as the Yankee Conference.
Maconaghy became a full-time official for the Atlantic 10 and Big East Conference in 1996, before coming off the field to serve as the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Coordinator of Officials in 2001. He later took over coordinating duties for the both the Ivy League and Patriot League, and moves into the upcoming 2011 season with all three leagues.
Maconaghy, inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2000, was selected as the National Football Foundation’s “Collegiate Official of the Year” in 1996. He has worked countless rivalry games during the regular season and been part of Championship game officiating crews including Division I-AA (1989, 1992, 1995) and Division III (1985-86).
During his career, Maconaghy has also had the privilege of officiating the Army vs. Navy game in 1997, the 1999 Eddie Robinson Football Classic (Kansas at Notre Dame) and the 1999 Independence Bowl (Mississippi vs. Oklahoma).
