RESREARCH PROFILE

I am a biochemist with expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

RESEARCH INTEREST

  • Mechanistic and stereochemical studies on α-oxoamine synthases and related enzymes.

  • Determination of three-dimensional structure of novel bacterial globin-coupled-sensors, fatty acid desaturase 2 and polyhydroxyalkanoate synthase.

  • Functional analyses of these proteins.

  • Analyses of commercially important secondary metabolites and enzymes/proteins from autotrophic and extremophilic organisms.

  • Develop novel assay methods for enzyme characterisation and kinetic studies.

RESREARCH SKILLS

  • Cloning, expression and purification of proteins by using FPLC and HPLC.

  • Kinetic analyses of different enzymes by using UV and mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) and radiolabeling techniques.

  • Experience in crystallisation of different proteins by using sitting drop and hanging drop vapour diffusion techniques.

  • Elucidation of three-dimensional structures of some proteins, I have used Rigaku MicroMax-007 HF X-ray generator (λ = 1.5418 Å) equipped with a Raxis-IV++ area detector.

  • I have used several software for processing a diffraction data set and refinement of 3D structure such as Crystal Clear, Refmac, Phenix and Coot.

  • Trained in DNA microarray.
