1997 MICROFINANCE SPECIALIST – AFGHANISTAN - ODA - “Afghanistan Rural Development Project”
Design of a savings and credit programme to assist Afghan villagers re-establish small and micro-enterprises based upon the use of a temporary note of exchange tied to the local price of wheat. Undertook a detailed TNA of project staff. The programme has been developed in a high inflation environment where commodity bartering has replaced currency as the medium for commodity exchange. The credit programme conforms to strict laws of Islamic banking.
