2018 PROJECT MANAGER/ ECONOMIST – NEW ZEALAND – MBIE “Carbon Sequestration and Mussel Productivity in Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture” (12 over 36 mths)

Project management, economic analysis and establishment of digital financial services for participating SME fishers. This research project is studying the kelp-mussel commensal relationship and identifying management practices which achieve optimal production while minimising cost. Kelp co-culture in NZ aquaculture is expected to add $87M a year to existing Greenshell mussel revenue and allow development of kelp-based; novel foods, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, fertiliser and biofuels; strengthening and diversifying NZ’s aquaculture sector and enhancing its environmental footprint (nutrient bioremediation, creation of biodiverse marine habitats, and carbon capture/sequestration).
