MABE, Jessie Rosemond Carnal, 94, formerly of Elizabeth Street, Pulaski,
passed away Monday, March 6, 2000, in the Sunbridge Nursing Care Center,
Dublin. Born April 18, 1905 in Allisonia, she was the daughter of the late
David Samuel Carnal and Thursia Elizabeth Moore Carnal. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Oscar Glenn Mabe; two daughters, Lois Dawn Mabe Hudson
Collins and Hazel Kathleen Mabe Dean; a grandson, David Hudson; a sister,
Alma Leslie Jennings; five brothers, William Edgar "Ed" Carnal, Ernest
Carnal, Leonard Carnal, Ishmeal "Dyke" Carnal and Arthur Carnal. She was a
member of the Church of God. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William
H. "Bill" (Doris Leslie) Harris of Pulaski and Mrs. Ronnie G. (Barbara
Lenoir) Burchett of Pulaski; two sons, Martin Glenn Mabe of Hamilton, Ohio
and Jimmy Ray Mabe and wife, Betty Mabe of Salem; 11 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren;
four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel C. Owens of Pulaski.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bower Funeral Chapel,
Pulaski, with Pastor Robert E. Owens officiating. Interment will follow in
the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be anytime Tuesday after 2
p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bower
Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski or anytime at the home of her
daughter, Doris Harris, 1517 Westwood Dr., Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel,
Pulaski is handling the arrangements.

MABIE, Sherry Ellen Saunders, 47, died Monday, January 15, 2001 at her home
in Radford. She was born in Radford on August 14, 1953, the daughter of
Robert Saunders and the late Doris Saunders. Sherry graduated from Roanoke
Memorial School of Nursing in 1974. After graduation she went to work for
Radford Community Hospital where she spent many years working in the
emergency room. She ended her nursing career working in the mother baby
suite at Carilion New River Valley Hospital. She was a member of Grove
United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, and
father-in-law, Hamilton H. Mabie. Survivors, in addition to her father,
include her husband, John H. Mabie; daughters, Laura A. and Sarah K. Mabie;
son, Jeff H. Mabie; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Phil Woods and
their children, Josh and Todd; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert D. and
Michelle Saunders and their children, Robbie, Katie and William;
sisters-in-law and husbands, Janet M. and David Matthews and their children,
Greg and Jill Matthews and Sara J. Mabie and Sufian Al-Khaldi and their
child, Sharif Mabie-Alkhaldi. Memorial services will be held Thursday,
January 18, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Grove United Methodist Church in Radford
with Rev. Terri Gregory officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes
that memorials be made to the Lamplighters Building Fund, c / o Radford
Public Library, 30 First Street, Radford, Virginia 24141. The family will
receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mullins Funeral Home in
Radford.

MABRY, Eric Paige, 29, of Pulaski, passed away Monday, April 24, 2000 at his
home. Eric was a 1989 graduate of Pulaski County High School, attended
Hampden-Sydney College, Fayetteville Technical College and was a veteran of
the United States Air Force. He was a member of the PCHS and Hampden-Sydney
College football teams and the PCHS basketball team. Eric was preceded in
death by his mother, Mary Jane Moore Mabry, grandparents, Edna Moore and
Shafter H. Moore and James A. and Blanch Mabry. He is survived by his father
and special friend, H. Donald Mabry. He is also survived by a twin, Todd
Christian Mabry of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Victor H. Mabry of Pulaski,
Michael D. Mabry of Fairlawn; a sister, Melanie L. Mabry of Roanoke; a
sister-in-law, Amy C. Mabry of Fairlawn; a brother-in-law, Robert W. Smith,
Jr. of Roanoke. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Victoria
and Katie Mabry of Sparta, N.C., Courtney and Miles Mabry of Fairlawn and
Brandon Daigle of Christiansburg. A memorial service will be held Friday at
11 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, officiated by Pastor Darlene
Marshall of Thornspring United Methodist Church. Pulaski VFW Post No. 1184
will conduct military graveside rites at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will
be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. The family is gathered
at the home of Don Mabry, 1308 Willow Ave., Pulaski. "Though they sink

MABRY, Emma Rachel Ratcliffe, 89, of Radford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 4, 2003. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Radford. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Mabry; two sons, Donald and Harless; a daughter, Barbara Croy; and a grandson, Jay Croy. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David Lee and Patty Mabry, and William R. and Alvina Mabry ; a daughter-in-law, Rachel F. Mabry; a son-in-law, Doug Croy, all of Radford; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A longing for heaven is now her new home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 7, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Radford Worship Center with Rev. Glennard Quesenberry officiating. Interment will follow in the Pentecostal Conference Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

"Bill" Maddy; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Bernstein, Oro Valley, Az.; son, Billy Maddy; two grandsons and spouse, Todd and Chelista Linkous, Hunter Maddy; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Linkous, all of Christiansburg. Also surviving are one sister, Emmer Boone of Hinton, W.Va.; special niece and nephew, Martha and Rodney Colinger. WILLIAM P. MANN

William Preston MANN, 68, 142 Pierce Ave., died Wednesday in Pulaski Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Carroll County, October 10, 1893 the son of the late James Preston MANN and Susan WRIGHT, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Willie RUPE MANN; three daughters, Mrs. Bernard WALLER, Washington D.C.; Lynda MANN and Pamela MANN both of Pulaski, two sons, Sgt. James Douglas MANN, Orlando, Fla. And Trinkle H. MANN of Pulaski; one sister Mrs. Newton WILLIAMS, Wytheville; two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p. m. from Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Parris Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery .

The body will remain at the funeral home.

MANNON, Ernest Smith, 86, of Radford, passed away Monday, June 11, 2001, in
New River Valley Medical Center. He was a member of Radford Wesleyan Church
and a retired yard clerk and assistant yard master with N&W Railroad with 43
years of service. He was the son of Charles Henry and Maude Dora Dobbins
Mannon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Smith Mannon; and
his daughter, Betty Mannon White. Survivors include his wife, Danie Duncan
Mannon of Radford; four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Mannon and
Joe and Martha Mannon, all of Radford, Ted and Micki Viers of Newbern and
Bobby Viers of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Don
Huffman of Boones Mill; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13,
2001, at 11 a.m. at the Radford Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Jim Cochran
and Pastor Tony Brescia officiating. Interment will follow in West View
Cemetery in Radford. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made
to either the American Cancer Society or the Radford Wesleyan Church. The
family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mullins Funeral
Home in Radford.

Born August 15, 1932 in Hiwassee, Va. she was the daughter of the late Walter Clarence Bowles and Inez Willis Taylor Bowles. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Nellie Nunn, and Mrs. Joe Leady and brothers; Lonnie Obal Taylor, Eugene Taylor, Otha L. Taylor and Earnest (E.P.) Taylor, W. C. Bowles, C. K. Bowles, E. H. Bowles, and G. M. Bowles. Surviving are: her husband, Leo Porter Marshall, Stow, Ohio; two sons, Daniel Leo Marshall, Stow, Ohio, R. Dale Marshall and wife, Kim Marshall, Stow, Ohio; two grandsons Andrew Marshall and Brian Marshall; one granddaughter, Allison Marshall; sister, Ola Mae Dalton Marshall, Hiwassee. Funeral service will be held Friday at 3:30 p. m. from Mt Olivet Methodist Church with the Rev. Clifton Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery, Mt. Olivet.


The body was removed from Strickler’s Funeral Home today at 12:30 p. m. to the residence to remain until one hour before the service.

survived by her parents, Paul T. and Dorothy Butt Gress of Pulaski; one
brother and his wife, Eric Timothy Gress and Tamara Wallace Gress; and a
nephew, Eric Paul Gress all of Dublin. Karen was a 1971 Graduate of Pulaski
High School, a graduate of Virginia Western Community College and had
attended New River Community College. She was a member and very lovingly
involved in the First United Methodist Church of Pulaski, and had been a
volunteer with the Salvation Army, Critzer School and several child-care and
pre-school organizations. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday
at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. J.N. Howard officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime after 2
p.m. on Wednesday at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home where the family
will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family suggest that friends
wishing to make memorials for Karen, may do so to the First United Methodist
Church, 135 4th St., N.W. Pulaski, Va. 24301.

He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and was a former security guard for RAAP. Mr. Martin will be cremated. There will be no funeral service. Funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Dublin Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Manson B. Tate officiating. Burial will be in Newbern Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation or the Presbyterian Childrens Home in Wytheville.
