Additional Clinical or Public Health Service Activities

On the morning of September 11, 2001, following the attack on the World Trade Center, Dr. Drescher spent the day as a Red Cross volunteer. With several colleagues, he was first deployed to Times Square to offer mental health services for anyone who might need them. Later in the day, they were sent to Stuyvesant High School which had been set up to receive incoming wounded. Dr. Drescher made myself available to the Red Cross in the period following 9/11, although he was never called back. He wrote about that experience in a letter to the New York Times which was published in 2002 on the first anniversary of 9/11 (http://goo.gl/A5CkTX).
