The maximum bore oversize is determined by two things: the cylinder wall.
Thickness and the size of the available oversize pistons. If in doubt as to the amount of overbore that is possible without causing structural weakness, an ultrasonic test should be performed on the block to determine the thickness of the cylinder walls. Thickness wall thickness occurs because of core shifting during casting of the Block. For best results, cylinders should be rebored to the smallest size possible.
