Doc PS Rev R 9-71 1. Introduction
1 Introduction This
document is the User Requirements Specification(URS) for the
Practical Series Au-tomation Libraryof software modules (the PAL) project, (hereafter referred to as the Project. The URS is the primary document for the design of the PAL software modules and contains the detailed requirements that the system must fulfil. It defines the requirements of the systems from the business and end-user perspective, it is comprehensive and unambiguous and is sufficiently detailed to allow accurate
tendering for the system, as such it provides the following
1 A clear and precise description
of what the system is for 2 The operational requirements of the system (what it should do)
3 The detailed functionality of the system (how it will do it)
4 The regulatory requirements of the system
5 Various performance criteria (memory usage, signal types c)
6 Environmental and security requirements (physical conditions and physical/electronic security)
7 Technical limitations and constraints (storage, configurability c) This URS has been
produced by Michael Gledhill, under his authority as the Engineering Manager of the Practical Series of Publications (hereafter referred to as the
PSP).
