Top beef distributors in foodservice recognized

Certified Angus Beef ® brand honors marketing, quality leaders
WOOSTER, Ohio – Sept. 28, 2015 – Chefs and their customers bring sophisticated palates to the table, and leading distributors are poised to suggest the best solutions for delivering great-tasting beef and capturing the popularity of beef on the menu. The Certified Angus Beef ® brand honored foodservice distributors for their leadership and innovation during its annual conference on Sept. 25-26 in San Antonio. Honorees included distributors, chefs and family ranchers, who are equally dedicated to bringing the best beef to the table.
“These distributors are expert at delivering premium beef and menu solutions to chefs,” says John Stika, the beef brand’s president. “We’re proud to align with their focus and engage in the conversation to bring great-tasting beef from our family ranchers to the dinner table.”


  • Miami Purveyors, of Miami, was named the Specialty Meat Company Marketer of the Year. The team at Miami Purveyors is expert at building relationships with customers and delivering the finest beef cuts. A “dinner on the dock” event featuring the brand brought customers inside the business to experience the distributor’s commitment to the brand and high-quality food products.




  • Sysco Raleigh, in Selma, N.C., received accolades for Broadline Foodservice Distributor Marketer of the Year. The distributor held sales meetings dedicated to the brand, offered creative sales contests and participated in local promotions, such as the Red and White Food and Beverage Festival. Focus on education included both staff and customers for ongoing success.




  • Atlantic FS SAS, of Medellin, Columbia, was named International Distributor Marketer of the Year. Atlantic FS worked with top chefs, culinary leaders and retailers to position the brand as the market leader. Engaging promotions included sales contests, food shows and customer events. Marketing planning sessions and beef education added to the team’s growing expertise.

  • Lone Star Foodservice, of Austin, Texas, received Foodservice Brand Extension Marketer of the Year. Lone Star Foodservice delivers beef expertise and top-quality products to local chefs. The company is a leader nationwide in offering Certified Angus Beef ® brand Natural and Prime Natural products.




  • Sysco Eastern Maryland, in Pocomoke City, Md., is the Foodservice Value-added Products Marketer of the Year. The company has a comprehensive focus on delivering high-quality beef, from fresh cuts to convenient meal solutions. Team members perfect their approach to deliver the best fits for each customer’s individual needs.




        • Freedman Meats, in Dallas and Houston, and Sysco Central Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, were selected by conference attendees to receive the People’s Choice Award for creative sales contests. Freedman Meats held a football-themed sales promotion and built relationships with more than 50 restaurants in the market. The Sysco promotion encouraged sales associates to earn a trip from Santa Claus to the brand’s Specialist Seminar in February 2015 in San Diego. Sales associates warmed up to the idea of a winter getaway, achieving a 19% increase in sales on specified items.



  • Sysco Central California, in Modesto, Calif., was honored for Commitment to Integrity. The company and team leaders put Certified Angus Beef ® product quality and integrity at the forefront of their business. Training programs aided them in ensuring proper trademark use and guided relationships with local restaurants.



  • To-Le-Do Foodservice, Winnipeg, received International Commitment to Integrity honors. The company focuses on assured quality and integrity, bringing benefits to chefs and consumers who enjoy Certified Angus Beef ® brand products. Participation in training programs added momentum to their leadership and overall success.




  • Newport Meat Company, of Irvine, Calif., was named the Top Sales Volume Specialty Meat Company. The expertly trained team grew chain business, as it delivered more Certified Angus Beef ® brand Prime and Natural products to fine-dining restaurants.




  • Sysco Houston, of Houston, Texas, received Top Sales Volume Broadline Foodservice Distributor honors. Through hands-on training and effective promotions, Sysco Houston continues to add sales and satisfy both chef and customer demand for premium beef.
