THOMAS CAVENDER, JR. ("Thomas Cavender") born about 1780 and is believed to be the same Thomas Cavender who married Amy Dawley ("Amey Dawley"?) on June 15, 1803 or on June 11, 1803 in the Lower Norfolk District of Princess Anne County, Virginia (which is now the independent City/County known as Virginia Beach, Virginia) with the ceremony being conducted by Rev. Charles Henley. Following the death of Thomas Cavender, Jr., widow Mrs. Amey Dawley Cavender ("Amy Cavender") married John Absalom in Princess Anne County, Virginia on June 31, 1832. The ceremony was conducted by George Morriss ("George Morris"), a Baptist minister with the surety being David Dowley ("David Dawley"?), 133, 149, 294, 350 & 355 It is said by some that Thomas Cavender and Amy Cavender ("Amey Cavender"?) had a daughter named:

BETSY CAVENDER (“Elizabeth Cavender”?); and,

ELIZABETH CAVENDER; 28 , 43, 91, 149, 163, 133, 195, 279, 287, 294 & 350

(V) ROBERT CAVENDER, born about 1732, apparently married a Sarah Bedwell, 269 and in 1776 was living in Transquakin Hundred, Dorchester County, Maryland. HiS Last Will and Testament was probated on August 13, 1815 and was administered from August 13, 1815 until September 12, 1816 in Kent County, Maryland (some say in Sussex County, Delaware), with his wife Sarah Cavender being appointed the Administratrix. An inventory of his estate was filed on May 7, 1822 by his widow, Sarah Cavender, and Gifford Soward. Named in his Will were his children: John Cavender, Samuel Cavender, Robert Cavender, Thomas Cavender, Reuben Cavender and Sally Cavender who married Samuel Enls. 269 & 330 Also mentioned in his Will was Deborah Cavender. According to the book entitled "Miami Valley Genealogies", Vol 2, Families A to K by Lindsay M. Brien, page 46,413 the estate of Robert Cavender was administered in Sussex County, Delaware on September 12, 1816,Del. Ar., Book A-8, p 20 which named his heirs, wife and children. The estate of Sarah Cavender was administered on April 25, 1822 in Kent County, Delaware, and also mentioned as her heirs were various Bedwells. The children of Robert Cavender and Sarah Cavender were: 262, 271, 279, 281, 300, 302, 313, 336 & 337

JAMES CAVENDER born about 1752;

ROBERT CAVENDER was born before 1755, either in Delaware or in Dorchester County, Maryland. However, his first four children were born in Delaware before 1800, at which time he was living in Mispellion, Kent County, Delaware. According to the 1776 census, Robert Cavender was then living in Transquakin Hundred in Dorchester County, Maryland, and his family then consisted of 1 male under 10, 1 male 21-30, and 1 female 16-21. He apparently married a Sarah Cavender, and a son and a daughter was born between 1790-1800 and two sons were born between 1785-1790. Robert Cavender died in Kent County, Maryland about August 1815, and his estate was administered from August 30, 1815 to September 12, 1816 by his wife, Sarah Cavender.

JOHN CAVENDER was born in Maryland about 1768, married Rachal Wilcox ("Rachel Wilcox") about 1800 in Maryland, went to Miami County, Ohio about 1804 or 1805 when the Indians were plenty and during which time all his money of $700 in gold was stolen. He died without leaving a will on June 6, 1841 in Miami County, Ohio at the age of 73, and is buried in the Old Lost Creek Baptist Cemetery in Lost Creek Township, Miami County, Ohio. Rachel Wilcox was born in 1785 in Maryland, died August 17, 1850 at St. Mary's, Ohio at the age of 65. A James Cavender of Darke County, Ohio filed a lawsuit in 1844-1845 time frame naming the heirs of John Cavender. John Cavender and Rachel Cavender had 9 children:282

Lydia Cavender born in Maryland and married Joseph M. Skinner ("Joseph Skinner") Also, a Lydia Cavender married Woodgate Smith on February 3, 1819 in New Castle County, Delaware N.C. Cnty. Del. Vol.7, pp 182;

Thomas Cavender married Amy Tical on February 28, 1820?;

Wesley D. Cavender, ("Wesley Cavender" & “W.D. Cavender”) married Jane Graham ("Jane Grayham") November 15, 1832; and,

Robert Charles Cavender ("Robert Cavender", “R.C. Cavender” & “Robert C. Cavender”)born June 27, 1813 in Maryland. He married his first cousin, Rebecca Cavender on either December 18, 1836 445 or on December 13, 1836279 in Miami County, Ohio, and died November 11, 1881 in Indiana at the age of 69. Rebecca Cavender was the daughter of Thomas Cavender who was the brother of the above Robert Cavender. She was born March 11, 1812 in Miami County, Ohio, and died November 11, 1881 in Allen County, Indiana at the age of 69. In 1850, the Robert Cavender family was living in Clear Creek Township in Allen County, Indiana and their children at that time comprised: Ezra Cavender age 13; Morris Cavender age 11; Alvira Cavender age 8; Melvina Cavender age 8; Clarrisa Cavender ("Clarissa Cavender"?) age 4; and, Harrison Cavender, Jr. age 1. In 1860 the family was then living in Virginia Township in Allen County, Indiana. The children of Robert Cavender and Rebecca Cavender's were:

Ezra Cavender born on September 11, 1837 in Miami County, Ohio and married Margaret in Miami County, Ohio on December 14, 1862. In 1860, Ezra Cavender was living with another family in Virginia Township in Cass County, Illinois;

Morris Cavender ("M.C. Cavender"?) born on August 22, 1839 in Miami County, Ohio, and married Mary Hummer in Miami County, Ohio;

Alvira Cavender ("Elvira Cavender"? & "Alvina Cavender"?) born March 20, 1841 in Miami County, Ohio, and married G.W. Murman in Illinois? on September 6, 1856;

Melvina Cavender ("Malvina Cavender") born February 27, 1843 in Indiana, and married Leonard B. Simmon ("Leonard Simmons") in Illinois on August 12, 1866;

Clarissa Cavender ("Clarrissa Cavender") born June 1, 1845 in Indiana, and married Thomas J. Davis ("Thomas Davis") on October 11, 1863 in Cass County, Illinois;FHL Number 1313055 and,

Harrison H. Cavender, Sr. ("Harrison Cavender", “H.E. Cavender”, some say” Harrison E. Cavender”, “H.E. Cavender” and some say “Harrison C. Cavender” & “H.C. Cavender”) born on October 22, 1849 in Fort Wayne Township in Allen County, Indiana, married his first cousin, Sarah Margaret Cavender ("Sarah Cavender" & “Sarah M. Cavender”)on February 19, 1880 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa, died on March 22, 1934 in Decatur County, Iowa at the age of 84, and is buried in either the Lentz or Leon Cemetery in Decauter County, Iowa. Sarah Cavender" was born on April 23, 1861 in Morgan County, Illinois, was the daughter of John C. Cavender (“John Cavender”), the son of Samuel Robert Cavender (“Samuel Cavender”, “S.R. Cavender” & “Samuel R. Cavender”) who married his cousin, Rebecca Cavender, the daughter of Thomas Cavender. Sarah Cavender died on September 4, 1902 in Woodland, Decatur County, Iowa at the age of 41 years, 4 months and 12 days, and is buried in the Lentz Cemetery in Leon Cemetery, Decauter County, Iowa with her husband.

In 1850, Harrison Cavender’s father and mother, Robert Cavender and Rebecca Cavender, were living in Allen County, Indiana and their children at that time were Ezra Cavender age 13, Morris Cavender age 11, Alvira Cavender ("Alvina Cavender" & "Elvira Cavender"?) age 8, Melvina Cavender ("Malvina Cavender") age 8, Clarrisa Cavender age 4 and Harrison Cavender, Jr. age 1.



Harrison Cavender, Sr. and Margaret Cavender were Methodist and they had 9 children who were:

John Robert Cavender ("Johnnie Cavender", “John R. Cavender”, “J.R. Cavender” & "John Cavender") born March 23, 1881 in Jasper County, Iowa, died April 3, 1881 in Jasper County, Iowa, and is buried in the Palo Alto Cemetery in Jasper County, Iowa;

Elvira Mae Cavender ("Elvira M. Cavender", "Mae Cavender", "Elvira Cavender", “E.M. Cavender” & "Elviria Cavender") born in 1882 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa, married Robert Harry Holliday ("Robert Holliday" & “Robert Holiday”?), died November 16, 1964 in Newton Township in Jasper County, Iowa, and is buried in the Palo Alto Cemetery in Jasper County, Iowa. Robert Holliday was born in 1875 and died October 29, 1938 in Jasper County, Iowa at the age of 82. The children of Robert Holliday and Elvira Holliday (formerly "Elvira Cavender") were:

Mary Irene Holliday ("Mary Holliday") born in 1907 in Jasper County, Iowa, and died February 27, 1910 in Jasper County, Iowa at the age of 3; and,

Coy Holliday who is living in Newton, Jasper County, Iowa;

Harry Patterson Cavender ("Harry Cavender" & “H.P. Cavender”) born May 30, 1884 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa, was reared in Jasper County, Iowa, married May Florence Barngrover ("May F. Barngrover" & "May Barngrover") on December 25, 1911 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, died October 25, 1963 in Burlington, Iowa at the age of 80, and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa along with May Cavender, his wife. May Barngrover was born January 1, 1888 in Scotland County, Missouri and died June 17, 1968 in Burlington, Iowa at the age of 80. The children of Harry Cavender and May Cavender (formerly "May Barngrover") were:

Donald Cavender born in Iowa and living in Burlington, Iowa and married but name of wife is unknown; and,

Ruth Cavender born August 23, 1915, married a Collom (“Collum”?),, and is living in Gilroy, California;

Rose E. Cavender ("Rose Cavender" & “R.E. Cavender”) born in August 1886 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa;

Earl O. Cavender ("Earl Cavender" & “E.O. Cavender’) born in May 1888 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa and died early in life;

Mattie A. Cavender ("Mattie Cavender" & “M.A. Cavender”) born in September 1890 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa;

Lillie A. Cavender ("Lillie Cavender", “L.A. Cavender’ & "Lily Cavender") born in January 1892 in Palo Alto Township in Jasper County, Iowa, lived in Taylor County, Iowa, and died at childhood;

Sarah Margaret Cavender ("Sarah M. Cavender", “S.M. Cavnder”, "Sarah Cavender" and "Sadie Cavender") born in July 1895 and married Walter Kindsche ("Walter Kindchi"?), and,

Howard J. Cavender ("Howard Cavender" & “H.J. Cavender”) born in July 1898, died December 19, 1954 in Jasper County, Iowa at the age of 56, and remained unmarried;

Samuel L. Cavender ("Samuel Cavender" & “S.L. Cavender”) born March 7, 1816, married Rebecca Knick on December 9, 1836 in Miami County, Ohio, and died July 12, 1849 in Miami County, Ohio at the age of 33. Rebecca Knick was born October 2, 1818 in Ohio? and died July 12, 1849 in Miami County, Ohio at the age of 30. Both Samuel Cavender and Rebecca Cavender are buried in the old Hyattsville Cemetery in Old Monroe Township, Miami County near Tipp City, Ohio. According to the 1850 census report for Miami County, Ohio, the children of Samuel Cavender and Rebecca Cavender were:

Rachael Cavender born about 1839;

John Cavender who was born about 1841; and,

Maltilda Cavender ("Matilda Cavender"?) born about 1846;

Mary Cavender married Garland B. Bruce, Jr. ("Garland Bruce") on January 30, 1834 in Miami County, Ohio (thus becoming “Mary Bruce”;

John C. Cavender ("John W. Cavender"?, "John Cavender",”John Charles Cavender”?, “J.C. Cavender” & “John Calvin Cavender”?) born October 22, 1822 in Ohio, first married Mary Heron ("Mary Herron", "Louise Herron" & "Louise Hearn") on September 1, 1846, later married Elizabeth Amlin, died November 22, 1886 in Miami County, Ohio at the age of 64, and is buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Old Union, Newton Township, Miami County Ohio. Mary Heron was born in 1826, and Elizabeth Amlin was born about 1822, and died about 1886. John Cavender and Mary Cavender had a daughter:

Mary J. Cavender ("Mary Cavender" & “M.J. Cavender”) who was born in 1846 in Miami County, Ohio who may be the same person who married Henry C. Johnson ("Henry Johnson") on March 31, 1859 in Pike County, Illinois;

Abigail Cavender born in 1824 in Miami County, Ohio, and who married Michael Lennon in 1849 (some say 1844.279) in Miami County, Ohio and who was the son of James Lennon and Sarah Blue, the sister of John Blue who married Sarah Cavender. Abigail Cavender apparently also married Allen E. Evilsizer ("Allen Evilsizer") who was born April 10, 1814 in Darke County, Ohio, died February 11, 1893 in Collett, Jay County, Indiana, and is buried in the Claycomb Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana. Abigail Cavender apparently died March 14, 1885. The children of Allen Evilsizer and Abigail Evilsizer are believed to had been the following:

Levi W. Evilsizer ("Levi Evilsizer") born about 1850 in Ohio, married Ardilla Banta, was a member of the Nazarene Church, died May 25, 1937 in Ridgeville in Randolph County, Indiana at the age of 77 years and at the home of his son, Bert Evilsizer, and is buried in the Claycomb Cemetery in Redkey, Indiania. Ardilla Banta was the daughter of Joseph L. Banta? ("Joseph Banta") who was born October 17, 1830 in Preble County, Ohio and was the son of Peter Banta also born in Ohio and Elizabeth Brown born in North Carolina. Levi Evilsizer was a member of the Nazarine Church, died at the home of his son Bert Evilsizer, and is buried in the Claycomb Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana. The children of Levi Evilsizer and Ardilla Evilsizer included:

Bert Evilsizer who lived in Ridgeville in Randolph County, Indiana at the time of the death of his father; and,

Allen Evilsizer who lived in Jackson, Michigan at the time of his father's death;

Delila Jane Evilsizer ("Delila Evilsizer") born February 24, 1855 in Miami County, Ohio, first married Cary Walker on April 14, 1877 in the United Brethren in Christ Church with Rev. William P. Cole ("William Cole") performing the ceremony, later joined the Reform Church of Pittsburg (probably "Pittsboro, Indiana"?), later married Christian Funk who died June 17, 1899, still later married Henry Shaneyfelt who had 7 children by his former marriage and who died July 14, 1919, still later married Elias Howell on February 24, 1920. She died August 9, 1926 near Ridgeville, Jay County, Indiana, and is buried in the Redkey, Indiana Cemetery. Cary Walker was born March 28, 1820 in Botetourt County, Virginia, was the son of George Walker, Jr. and Elinder Looney, already had 6 children by his former marriage to Ellen Crisler, was a member of the United Brethren Church, died October 4, 1888 at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 6 days in Greene Township, Jay County, Indiana at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 6 days, and is buried in the Claycomb Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana next to his first wife Ellen. The children of Cary Walker and Delila Walker included:

Cary Allen Walker ("Cary Walker") born March 8, 1878 in Green Township in Jay County, Indiana, first married Anna Mae Phillips ("Anna Phillips") October 20, 1906 in Randolph County, Indiana, later married Edna I. Rantz on January 10, 1920, still later married Sadie Hall, still later married Alice Louise Brown ("Alice Brown"), died April 7, 1964 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana, and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana. Anna Mae Phillips was born September 18, 1879 in Sturgeon Township in Boone County, Missouri, was the daughter of William John Phillips ("William Phillips") and Margaret A. Rothrock ("Margaret Rothrock"), died March 9, 1969 in an institution in Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana, and is buried in Paupers Field in Winchester, Indiana. Edna Rantz was born about 1887, was the daughter of John Rantz and Amanda, died December 13, 1927 in Redkey, Indiana, and is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana. Cary Walker and Anna Walker had the following children:

Janey Louella Walker ("Janey Walker" & "Jane Walker"?) born August 20, 1908 in Ridgeville, Randolph County, Indiana, first married George Walden Vanasdal ("George Vanasdal", "Bud Vanasdal" & "Van Vanasdal") November 28, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana, later married Lester Luckey April 4, 1969 in Naples, Florida, was a member of the First Christian Church in New Castle, Indiana, died May 22, 1974 in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, and is buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. George Vanasdal was born August 31, 1907 in Terre Haute, Indiana, was the son of Walter Vanasdal and Jenny Kathryn Davis ("Jennie Davis" & "Jennifer Davis"?), died May 16, 1963 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana, and is buried with his wife Janey Vanasdal. Lester Luckey was born May 26, 1909, died May 22, 1974 in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, was also a member of the First Christian Church in New Castle, Indiana, and is buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery. The children of George Vanasdal and Janey Vanasdal included:

Barbara Joan Vanasdal ("Barbara Vanasdal") born February 6, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana, first married Virgil James Barnes ("Virgil Barnes") February 21, 1948 in Ft. Wayne County, Indiana, divorced in 1953, later married Norman Stewart Cook ("Norman Cook") June 25, 1954 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana, was a member of the Grace Episcopalain Church in Muncie, Indiana, later married Elmer Lee Johnson ("Elmer Johnson") June 3, 1973 in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Virgil Barnes was born November 6, 1925 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana, and was the son of William A. Barnes ("William Barnes") and Louise. Norman Cook was born July 31, 1931 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana, was the son of Frank Norvil Cook ("Frank Cook" & "Franklin Cook"?) and Lodema Garlic, died February 4, 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana. Elmer Johnson was born July 1, 1931 in Blue Grove, Texas, and was the son of Carl Johnson and Lillie Zora Caldwell ("Lillie Caldwell"). Virgil Barnes and Barbara Barnes had a son named:

Terry Gene Barnes ("Terry Barnes") born December 22, 1948 in Spring Grove, Wayne County, Indiana, married Kristine Rezendes January 11, 1971 in Atlanta, Georgia, and divorced in 1983. Kristine Renzendes was born October 3, 195 in Oakland, California and was the daughter of Vernon Rezendes and Audrey Johnson. Terry Barnes started using the surname Cook when he was in the third grade and had his name legally changed to Terry Cook when he was 21 years of age. Terry Cook had 3 children:

Robert Perry, Jr. was born June 5, 1957 in Sarasota, Florida and was the son of Robert Lewis Perry, Sr. ("Robert Perry") and Janette P. McDonald ("Janette McDonald. Ernest Applewhite and Vana Applewhite had a daughter named:

Kelley Marie Applewhite ("Kelley Applewhite") born February 7, 1971 in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, and married Michael Todd Tibliere May 6, 1995 in Ocean Springs, Jackson County, Mississippi. Michael Tibliere was the son of James Gary Tiblier ("James Tiblier") and Judy?; and,

Christopher Scott Cook ("Christopher Cook") born April 21, 1926 in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana, and married Donna Ross, who had apparently previously married a Payne and had 2 children. Donna Ross was born August 27, 1963 in Sacramento, California and was the daughter of William Ross and Evelyn May Molyneux ("Evelyn Molyneux"). The children of Donna Payne were:

Michael Payne born October 24, 1981 in Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; and,

Scott Payne born born June 13, 1988 in Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; and,

James Richard Vanadal ("James Vanadal") born July 26, 1935 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, married Judy Schuyler in Lapel, Indiana. Judy Schuyler was born August 4, 1939 and was the daughter of Joe Schuyler ("Joseph Schuyler") and an Irene? James Vanadal and Judy Vanadal had 3 children:
