Cavender”) born about 1803 in Kanawha Two Mile, Kanawha County, West Virginia, First married Elizabeth Jarrett on January 1, 1829 in Kanawha County, West Virginia, and died a “lunatic” on February 6, 1868 in Pinch, Kanawha County, West Virginia. Elizabeth Jarrett was born about 1811, was the daughter of Squire C. Jarrett ("Squire Jarrett") (1782-1860) and Patsy Groves (“Martha Groves”?, "Patsy Graves", "Patricia Groves"? & "Patricia Graves"?) (1784-1855), and died about 1876. On February 6, 1868, John T. Reynolds (“John Reynolds”), Squire G. Jarrett (“Squire Jarrett”), and John Gunter were appointed appraisers of the meager estate of Charles Cavender and made oath that they would truly and faithfully perform their duties as appraisers. Signed before Benjamin Slack, a Notary Public. On February 10, 1868, the appraisel was made and filed in the Office of the Circuit Court Clerk in Kanawha County, West Virginia.
Charles Cavender received a 100 acre land grant in 1831 in Indian Creek, Kanawha County, Virginia through the Jarrett family and later lived in the Elkview area of Kanawha County, West Virginia. In 1870, the farm of widow Elizabeth Cavender was adjacent to the farms of Owen G. Jarrett ("Owen Jarrett") and David J. Jarrett ("David Jarrett").
This may the the same Charles Cavender mentioned in the "Bill of the Estate" of Charles Cavender of Kanawha County, West Virginia which stated: "This 6th day of February, 1868, John T. Reynolds (“John Reynolds”), Squire G. Jarrett ("Squire Jarrett") and John Gunter ("John Gunther"?), who have been appointed appraisers of the estate of Charles Cavender, a lunatic, and made oath that they would truly and faithfully perform their duties as an appraiser." (Benjamin Slack, Notary Public) The document continues and lists his meager holdings. Homer Burgess was born about 1899, was the son of Wyatt Burgess and was 19 when he married with Rev. S.W. Cavender performing the ceremony in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Apparently, Vada Burgess later married a Turley and had no children, and still later married a Cummings and had no children. The children of Homer Burgess and Vada Cavender were:
