Cavender”) was born on August 2, 1891 in Waxahatchie, Texas, married Lula Reedy Pemelton (“Lula Pemelton”) on November 16, 1910 in Paris, Texas, died on June 2, 1960 in Idabel, McCurtain County, Oklahoma, and is buried in the Denison Cemetery in Idabel, McCurtain County, Oklahoma. Lula Pemelton was born on August 17, 1892 in Casey County, Kentucky, was the daughter of James Henry Pemelton (“James Pemelton”) and a Sarah Lynn, died on October 16. 1988 in Idabel, McCurtain County, Oklahoma, and is buried with her husband. Apparently, the family of Lula Pemelton in Casey County, Kentucky still goes by the surname Pemberton. It is said that in family records her father wanted the name changed when he moved to Texas, possibly because of the resentment of Confederate General John Pemberton who had lost the battle of Vicksburg. William John Cavender was left handed and said to be the best semi-pro baseball pitcher around the general area in the Texas League, and people came from all over the area to watch him play. Everyone said that it was a shame that no big league scout ever found him, and that he could have been better than Babe Ruth or any of the great players of the time. Roe (“Lena Roe”) on July 26, 1890 in Ellis County, Texas432, or an Irene who was born about 1878, and he died in Ellis County, Texas, apparently from tuberculosis. A Lucius Cavender (“Lucuis S. Cavender” & “Lucuis Cavender”) is listed in both the 1880 and 1910 census reports for Ellis County, Texas as being born about 1875. It is to be noted that a Lucion Cavender married a Sudie Roe. In either event, the Lucius Cavender who was born in 1888 could have been named for his deceased brother because Lucius Cavender is mentioned in the will of John Calvin Cavender (“John Cavender” & “John C. Cavender”) and the earlier Lucius Cavender is not listed;

SAMARAH FLETCHER CAVENDER (“Samaria Cavender”?, “Marah Cavender”, “Samara Cavender”?, “Samara F. Cavender”, “S.F. Cavender” & “Samarah Cavender”) born about 1875 in Ellis County, Texas, who is listed in the will of John Calvin Cavender (“John Cavender”), married A.M. Wimberly who found oil in West Texas, and upon her husband’s death, she inherited his wells. Samarah Wimberly died childless before 1902 and for several years thereafter her nieces and nephews received royalties from the oil wells;
