Entrepreneurial Competencies and Management
SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The respondents of the study will only come from the 2 town centers of Agdangan, Quezon, Poblacion I and Poblacion II since most of the businesses are concentrated in these areas. Moreover, it is limited to only selecting microenterprises that are registered to the Department of Trade and Industry and Bureau of Internal Revenue.

  • Recommended interventions for microentrepreneurs with low entrepreneurial competencies and management practices.

The figure illustrates the IPO model of the research to be conducted by which inputs represents data and materials to be use; process shows ways to transform input to have outputs such as performing statistical methods; outputs are the results or outcome of the study.

In the study, the inputs to be used will be the responses of the microentrepreneurs to the survey questionnaire adapted from the research of Parilla (2013) that consisted four parts: demographic profile of the respondents, their microenterprise organizational profile, their level of entrepreneurial competencies, and business management practices.

Entrepreneurial competencies are characteristics of the business owners in terms of being opportunity-seeker, ability to take risks, efficiency in doing business, persistence, commitment to work, information gatherer, goal-setter, systematic, persuasive, and independence. Meanwhile, management practices are the usual doings or habits of microentrepreneurs in marketing their business’ products and services, managing human resources, financial management.

To further interpret the gathered data a five-point scale, 5-1 with answer options of “always” as 5, “often” as 4, “sometimes” as 3, “seldom” as 2, and “never” as 1, will be used in assessing the respondents’ entrepreneurial competencies. On the other hand, a five-point scale, with answer options of “very highly practiced” as 5, “highly practiced” as 4, “moderately practiced” as 3, “slightly practiced” as 2 and “not practiced” as 1, was used in assessing respondents’ management practices.

The output would be the summarization of the differences of entrepreneurial competencies and management practices as to the microentrepreneurs’ demographic profile and their businesses’ organizational profile. In addition, recommended interventions for microentrepreneurs with low entrepreneurial competencies and management practices to enhance their personal and managerial skills.

RESEARCH LOCALE

The study will be conducted in the town of Agdangan, a fifth-class municipality of Quezon, Province. Specifically, its respondent microentrepreneurs will only be from the two town centers, Poblacion I and Poblacion II.
