The Technology Transfer program from the Technical Center was one of the exhibitor booths and displayed some of the FAA’s latest innovative technologies and commercial partnerships. Among the new technologies displayed was Dr. Todd Truitt’s two patent pending prototype data systems: the Tower Operations Digital Data System (TODDS), which combines textual electronic flight data with airport surface surveillance displays; and the Perceptual-Spatial Tower Operations Digital Data System, which makes use of airport surface maps, rather than rely on surface surveillance. Other items displayed included Lou Delemarre’s patent pending Aircraft Geometric Height Measurement Element (AGHME), developed in support of the Domestic Reduced Vertical Separation program (DRVSM). Finally, the patented Adiabatic Expansion Nozzle was also displayed which performs faster, cleaner and more efficiently than traditional fire extinguishers.
