“In Clark Co., Illinois on the Fraker farm on the Oak Grove Road about three miles east of Marshall, there are two unmarked graves at the site of a clump of locust trees on the bank of a pond. The graves are about 50 yards from the road and east of the road. They were pointed out to us [Loran and Hazel Evans] by Fenton Fraker, whose son now owns the farm. Mr. Fraker grew up there and remembers vividly from his childhood being shown these graves. A grave marker was erected here about 1965, made possible by donations from members of the Evans descendants.”

Charles Evans of Brazil, Indiana said his father Ed told him that Horatio N. was the son of “old Captain Ben Evans who came from Pennsylvania and settled in Ohio.” (Hazel Rupert Evans)

Grace Krider told Hazel Evans at the start of her genealogical research: “Horatio moved from Ohio to Clark County, Illinois ca 1840. Had two farms east of Marshall, after Belinda died, stepmother Lydia drove Nelson and Job away. Her daughters Missouri and Virginia inherited the estate. Nelson J. enlisted army. Civil War 1864 with 150th Illinois Volunteers. His brother Job enlisted in 1862 with Indiana Volunteers” (proved incorrect by administration of Horatio’s estate - Barbara Jean Evans).
