FCHS ANNOUNCEMENTS
August 29, 2013



  • The PROBE Fair is another opportunity for students to visit with college representatives – more colleges come to PROBE than come to our college & military night! It will be held on Tuesday, September 10. We will board buses at 9:15 and be back at 11:00am. Students are not allowed to drive to this event. The counseling office will take students on a field trip to Lanier Tech to visit with these representatives. This is open only to JUNIORS and SENIORS. The cost is $5.00 and you can get your ticket from Mrs. Santiago in the counseling office no later than September 6th at noon.



  • High School students who are interested in being part of the Mentoring Program can complete an application no later than Sept 20 to be part of this opportunity. High School students go and mentor middle school and elementary age students this year.  The Forsyth County Mentoring program is designed for students to be able to make a positive impact through Mentoring.  Students can either go before school for Elementary or after school to the Middle school. Students are able to earn community service hours for clubs/organizations.  Students will have to fill out an application and there is an interview process (for those who have not mentored before).  Applications are available in the Counseling office and must be turned back in to the Counseling office by September 20th.    

  • IF Tutoring will begin Next Wednesday, September 4th during IF.  Remember students, “Do not fall into the ABYSS!”  Go by and see Mr. Calabro in room 1553 on the West Campus and get signed up for peer tutoring.  It works!

  • The Patriot Club will meet Wednesday, September 4th, immediately after school in the East Cafeteria.  Final plans for the September 6th cookout will be discussed.

  • Any girl interested in trying out for the Girls Tennis Team in January, who were unable to attend the meeting on Friday 8/23, please see Coach Ferreira in room 1405 ASAP.

  • The Humane Society Club will be having its first meeting on Wednesday, September 4th at 7:30am in Mrs. Faubel’s room (510 on East Campus). We are new club so bring a friend! We will discuss plans and events for the year.

  • Any junior or senior interested in becoming a member of the Forsyth Central Science National Honor Society, please visit the Forsyth Central web page, under extracurricular activities, honor societies to view the requirements and application forms.  Deadline for all applications is September 24th, 2013.

  •  Anyone interested in joining the Science Olympiad team and competing in several events, there will be a meeting on September 11th in Mr. Schuyler’s room, room 225 on east campus at 4PM.  Please plan to attend.  If you cannot attend please stop and see either Mr. or Mrs. Schuyler before the meeting.

  • The Forsyth Central High School Technology Student Association is hosting its first annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Thursday, September 12th from 5:00 – 7:30pm in the East Campus Cafeteria, to showcase the amazing work the students do throughout the year. Come enjoy homemade Italian classics prepared and served by our TSA students and volunteer coaches. We will be having a buffet style dinner, drinks, and desert. Additionally, there will be a chance to win special prizes.



  • Yearbooks on sale for $70. Contact Mrs. Gray if you have questions.



  • Come support our Cheer Dawgs at their Sneak Peek Performance on Saturday, Sept 7th at 11am in the New Gym. Enjoy a special performance by our very own Football Coaches and cheerleaders! We will have Raffles and Free prizes!

  • Attention Junior Class…if you are interested in being a Jr. Class officer please complete your application and turn in to room 151 or East Media Center.

  • If you are running for Junior Class officer start campaigning! All Juniors will vote for their class officers on September 11th through ItsLearning, during IF class. Any questions see Ms. Ellington or Mrs. Gonzalez in room 151 or Mrs. Hall in the East Media Center.

  • The media center is hosting a virtual book fair for students to order books for English classes or for reading pleasure. The book fair is running August 22, 2013 – September 6, 2013. Visit www.booksrockcafe.com to place an order.

  • Membership is open for TSA-Robotics Club.  Drop by 802 and see Mr. Welsch or Mr. Johnson for details and a membership packet.  Full calendar of work days and Events is here; www.linkyy.com/TSA_Calendar.   • The Key Club meeting has been moved from Wed. afternoon, Sept 4th to Thursday afternoon, Sept 5th at 3:45 p.m. in Room 180. President Catherine Johnson will be discussing upcoming events in September. Dues are $20.00, $28.00 includes a t-shirt.



  • FCA huddle is at 7:30 in the PAC every Wednesday morning! There is always free breakfast food and Chickfila for $3!!!

  • The Central Corner will have Chick-fil-a Chicken biscuits for sale on Friday mornings from 7:45-8:15 for $3.00.



  • DECA Members wishing to attend the Business of Baseball Event with the Atlanta Braves need to pick up a field trip form from Mrs. Henderson. Field trip forms and money are due by September 10th. The cost is $30 dollars which includes access into the event, an outfield ticket to the game, a braves hat and a $10 food/drink voucher.

  • Please use the Blue “Smurf” Buckets in your classrooms for paper, junk mail, note cards, folders, newspapers and magazines, etc. We will pick up bins on Fridays during 3rd period (WEST CAMPUS) and 4th period (EAST CAMPUS). There are 19 plastic bottle recycling bins placed around campus to be use for all plastic and aluminum recycling. Please let Ms. Cole or Mr. Jordan know if you have any questions. We are here to help.  Thank you for Saving the Planet!



  • The first National Technical Honor Society meeting of the year will be Friday, September 13th at 7:45AM in Mrs. Jager’s room (340).  Breakfast will be provided!



  • Parents/ Guardians:  If your child has a medical condition or needs medication this school year, please download the appropriate forms from the county website and have your family Doctor fill them out so we can have them on file. If there is any concerns you wish to discuss with me in regards to your students health, please don’t hesitate to call me @ 770-887-8151 ext. 110166.
