Coastal Edge EAST COAST SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS PLANNED FOR AUGUST 17-24, 2014

52nd Annual Festival Features 10 “Beach Sports,” Free Music Concerts, Food & Fun into Week of Celebration of Beach Lifestyle

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. –The 52nd Annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships (CE-ECSC) presented by Vans, will be held August 17-24, 2014 at the Virginia Beach, Va., oceanfront.

At the heart of the Coastal Edge ECSC beach sports festival is the world’s second-oldest continuously-run surfing contest. More than 200 professional surfers come to the East Coast’s most fabled contest to compete for their share of a $125,000 total pro cash purse and ASP 4-Star points; many of the top-ranked women’s and men’s amateur surfers annually make the pilgrimage for circuit points or simply for the love of the sport.

But no matter their ages – from under 10 super groms to menehunes to the over-70 grand legends –they surf for a coveted spot in CE-ECSC history. With nearly 1,000 entries, CE-ECSC has the most surfers competing in any event in the world.
