<888> 02/10/14 Monday 11:30 A.M.  The governor of new york and the Frick family and a poor member of the Kennedy family all have houses in the same area in Bedford, new york where John Jay was from.  The newspaper and timber and gold baron Hearst family have houses back east in Albany, New York, Wilton, Connecticut and North Salem, New York.  The daughter of Jack Kennedy also has a small house in North Salem, New York as does Stewart Mott, but he might not have too much money anymore with www.gm.com going bankrupt, but more than likely he diversified into other fields.  Ulysses S. Grant was also from North Salem, New York, but he did not have much money except an Army pension, and he had to barrow money from Mark Twain the writer who lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut and Hartford, Connecticut.  I use to like playing Tom Sawyer in my travels, particularly down in Cayo Hueso.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 11:15 A.M.  I chatted with a friend whom knows a few Canadians.  Of course with the colder winter, the St. Lawrence Seaway is obviously frozen over for a longer period of time, so all of the shipping out of the Great Lakes which also includes a lot of food can not make it to the other ports in the world particularly Europe where it might be needed.  It costs too much money to haul bulk cargo via air.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 10:50 A.M.  I went outside, and I threw out the garbage.  I cleaned about two inches of snow and ice off the Volvo station wagon with the new snow brush ice scraper.  It works just fine.  I chatted with neighbors.  Basically the higher prices of gasoline and fuel in the United States of America is making all of us prisoners of our homes.  Still, if one organizes oneself, one does not need to venture out in an automobile on a daily basis just to spin one's wheels.  In Europe a lot of people have automobiles which they leave parked most of the time, since gasoline can be over $8 a gallon there almost twice as much as here.  It said on Bloomberg News this morning, a lot of our energy is supplied by natural gas which has gone up over 65% recently.  If one is out on Long Island driving on the Long Island Expressway in the Queens Section of New York City near Le Frac City, one can see the https://www.psegliny.com/ natural gas tanks, and easily tell by their height how much natural gas supply is left in them.  Also from Steamboat Road here in Greenwich, Connecticut on cold clear days, one can look across Long Island Sound and see a lot of steam escaping from one of the power plants out there.  When I knew Helen Kress Williams in Oyster Bay, Long Island; I think her family were involved with http://williamsenergygroup.com/ .  Now if one happens to know any Canadians, back in the period when I was working out on Long Island between 1978 and 1983, a group of other workers built a natural gas pipeline down from Canada to New Rochelle, New York and under Long Island Sound to supply Long Island with more Canadian Natural gas, so if one wants to stay warm out on Long Island, remember Canadians are supplying your Canadian Natural Gas.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 9:25 A.M.  The Pet friendly grocery store in Greenwich, Connecticut is the Stop and Shop in the Glenville section of middle northwest Greenwich, where they have one whole aisle of pet food.  That obviously means a lot of the simple rural folk in back country Greenwich have pets which they do not take the time to walk on Greenwich Avenue.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 8:20 A.M.  I will now shower and clean up.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 7:55 A.M.  I ordered PGD MQ998 Watch Cell Phone - 1.5" Wide Touch Screen MP3/4 FM Camera Voice and Video Recorder for $37.99 in Gold with free shipping.  For the watch phone, I also ordered 8G 8GB Fast Flash Micro SD TF MicroSD TF Slim Memory Card 8 GB + SD Adapter for $6.99 with free shipping.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 7:20 A.M.  From what little I know about the Scott family business empire, I was once told by my Grandfather Clarence Scott's brother Vernon Scott who was also from Champaign, Illinois that he had been to China over 50 times selling soy beans.  I guess soy sauce and tofu are very popular in Asia.  CIO

<888> 02/10/14 Monday 6:35 A.M.  I woke up at 5:30 P.M..  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with honey and milk, a toasted English muffin with olive oil, a 12 ounce glass of 50% punch and 50% cold filtered water and vitamins and supplements, and a cup of coffee with milk and Splenda sweetener.  I washed the breakfast dishes.  I made my bed.   CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 10:30 P.M.  The dog person from California told me, they decommissioned the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Onofre_Nuclear_Generating_Station , so I guess it is safe for everyone here from California to move back to Laguna Beach or where ever they are from.  I ate a 19 ounce Stouffer's meat lasagna with grated parmesan and Romano cheese and a 12 ounce glass of Schweppes Ginger Ale.  I will now shut down the primary work computer.  I will then go to bed.  I have a 3:30 P.M. medical appointment tomorrow which I have to get to a half hour earlier at 3 P.M., so I will have a busier day tomorrow than usual.

More white stuff coming http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=CTZ009&warncounty=CTC001&firewxzone=CTZ009&local_place1=&product1=Hazardous+Weather+Outlook#.UvhHAvuS7AM CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 9:20 P.M.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 7:30 P.M.  I threw out the garbage.  I went downtown, and I stopped by the http://www.greenwichhardware.com/index.php , and I bought a deluxe automobile snow broom for $14.99 and .86 tax less a $1.50 discount for $14.35 total.  I then decided I wanted the model with an ice scraper too, and they let me have that model for the same price, although it was $7 more.  Since I have kept an eye on the downtown area of Greenwich for 30 years, they sometimes give me discounts at the local shops.  Obviously it costs me a lot more to go downtown and walk the entire length of Greenwich Avenue frequently than a few minor discounts, particularly in Green Witch, Connecticut.  I next parked further downtown, and I chatted with a retired person walking a wired hair terrier.  I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue and the train station area.  I stopped by the Greenwich Cigar store, and I played an Ace's High scratch card for a dollar, but I lost.  I stopped by the new vegetarian restaurant "Steam", and I picked up a copy of their menu.  I stopped by the www.apple.com computer store, and I tried to cheer them up.  Maybe times will get better.  I toured CVS.  I chatted with a customer thinking about buying an electronic hot plate for a $100, but items like that I would rather have a more professional model than As Seen on TV model. I chatted with a Maltese dog and its owner.  I stopped by the 3D printer shop, and I gave them a pep talk.  I chatted with a regular Norwegian who was amused by my Chinese Army hat that I wore with new leather jacket.  I chatted with a gal from Las Angeles, California who came here for the http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/ , and I told her the Long Island dog show was more interesting.  I finished my walk, and I sat out for a while.  I did not clean the benches off, since I figured who ever the head guru is in town will figure it out sooner or later.  I used the bathroom at Starbucks.  I went by Zen Stationary, and I bought another Ace's High scratch card for a dollar, but I lost. One can now win up to a thousand dollars on a Ace's High scratch card, which would probably pay for dinner on Greenwich Avenue for your twenty closest friends.  I also stopped by the TD bank to tell them about the Aga Khan traveling all the way up to Canada.  I also stopped by Ralph Lauren, and I told the gal there, she should have Ralph design a Abercrombie and Fitch type hunting jacket like Teddie Roosevelt use to wear which I am sure a lot of heavier people might like, https://www.google.com/search?q=Teddie+Roosevelt+Photo+at+Yellowstone&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ohj4UrvjHLOwsAS3sIDICQ&ved=0CCQQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=805 .  After my walk, I went by the Greenwich Library, and I used the bathroom.  I chatted with a reference librarian and a regular patron.  I then went by the Stop and Shop.  I bought a 64 ounce Welch's grape juice for $2.50, a 64 ounce Ocean Spray cranraspberry juice for $3.39, a 48 ounce Ocean Spray old fashioned oatmeal for $4.24,  two 15 ounce Chef Boyardee meat ravioli for $1 each, a 3.5 ounce McCormick's grill meats Montreal spicy steak seasoning for $2.91, a two pound bag of baby carrots for $3.29, fresh bananas for .79 a pound for $1.45, a 12 ounce package of Purdue chicken cutlets for $2.39, a four 6 ounce cup of Chaboni black cherry Greek yogurt for $4.29, and a 7 ounce package of Stop and Shop deli sliced Swiss cheese for $3.59 for $30.05 total.  I chatted with a Stop and Shop employee about all of the small people in this area whom seem to think I am a giant which is far from the truth.  I then returned home, and I put away my groceries.  CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 12:40 A.M.  I will now shower and clean up.  I will then go downtown to Greenwich Avenue, and I will forage around and probably take a walk.  CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 11:40 A.M.  I woke up at 10:30 A.M.. Basically in back country Greenwich for the people whom live up Round Hill Road, it is such a long trip down Round Hill Road, people usually on northern Round Hill road only go downtown once a week.  Also when coming down Round Hill Road, just before Pecksland Road, one has to deal with the dangerous "Dead Man's Curve" which has claimed quite a few people over the years.  Still one can live in back country off Round Hill Road and try to survive off supplies from the local Round Hill store.  When my family lived off Round Hill Road, we use to attend the Round Hill Community Church, when it was at John Street, but I have never gone to their new church http://www.roundhillcommunitychurch.org/  at the Round Hill Community House except once to head Bishop John Moore from St. John's cathedral in Manhattan speak.  CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 02/09/14:

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 3:50 A.M.  I ate a Greek yogurt.  I will now send out my weekly notes.  I will then go back to bed.  CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 3:25 A.M.  I use to call the British embassy in Washington D.C. at 1-202-588-6500 at night and press 0 to chat with security.  They now have a system, where one can go through the prompts to get through to their emergency number in London, and if one is Scottish, London will transfer one to Edinburgh, Scotland; where they seem to understand and listen.  CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 2:35 A.M.  If you want to see how the Rockefeller family control the www.greenwichtime.com , one might notice in the earlier Greenwich Time article about the grand list of property in Greenwich, there is no mention of the Stillman Rockefeller property which is about two thousand acres on the east side of Glenville Road.  They might not list it, because technically I think it is a Christmas tree farm accessed at only a million dollars as rural agricultural property.  Of course they also have property in Texas and Scotland, so they probably regard that as a small piece of property.  So be nice to the Scottish.  Stillman's wife Nan was Andrew Carnegie's niece.  Of course there are other neighborhoods in Greenwich that look more deluxe where the Vanderbilt family have lived.  Also the Bush family were once neighbors of the Dodge family.  The Frick family also lived near where the Vanderbilt family lived.  The area where the Frick and Vanderbilt family lived might be where the Ford family might also have a house, since it looks like Grosse Point Farms, Michigan.  The Reed family also lived there amongst other neighborhoods in town.  I think the Mellon family might have property north of Greenwich in Banksville, New York which is more undeveloped.  CIO

<888> 02/09/14 Sunday 2:10 A.M.  Basically from what I know about the neighborhood where the Aka Khan has a house in Greenwich, Connecticut is near where my family once had a house.  In that neighborhood, the Rockefeller family, the Bush family, the Shah of Iran family, the Norwegian Royal family, the J.P. Morgan Belgium branch family where I bought my first personal Apple IIe computer for $100 at a tag sale, and the Bentley family all have homes in that neighborhood, and it is near where the Peterson and Watson and Powers and Shepard families once lived too.  There are quite a few other families in that neighborhood whom managed to stay more private for economic reasons.  It costs money to be public.  Tom Shaw whose family is in the construction business in town whom I had one of my first cigarettes with also built a spec house in that neighborhood recently, but he prefers to live down in Melbourne, Florida near www.nasa.gov .  There are also wild animals in that neighborhood.  Quite a few people from that old neighborhood have also ended up at http://www.johnsislandclub.org/ .  Of course the Aga Khan has multiple homes around the world, so whether he ever uses his property in Greenwich is opened to speculation.  CIO

Prime Minister of Canada to welcome Aga Khan:

PM to welcome His Highness the Aga Khan to Canada
February 7, 2014
Standoff, AB

Introduction

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that His Highness the Aga Khan will make an official visit to Canada later this month. During his visit, the Aga Khan will meet with Prime Minister Harper, who has invited him to deliver an historic address to Parliament.

Canada has a warm and enduring relationship with the Aga Khan, 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the world's 15 million Shia Ismaili Muslims. The Government of Canada has a strong, long-standing relationship with the institutions of the Ismaili Imamat, including the Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) and the Aga Khan Development Network. AKFC is a trusted partner of Canada on a wide range of international development initiatives, including in Afghanistan, in the areas of health, education, rural and economic development, and the creation of new opportunities for women. The Network’s underlying ethic is that of compassion for the most vulnerable in society and service to humanity without regard to faith, origin or gender.

Quick Facts

  • Since taking on his role as Imam in 1957, the Aga Khan has been deeply engaged in improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable populations, while emphasizing the need to uphold human dignity as well as respect for tolerance and pluralism. There are more than 100,000 Shia Ismaili Muslims in Canada.

  • The Aga Khan was formally granted honorary citizenship in May 2010 during an official visit to Canada. This initiative was passed unanimously in the House of Commons on June 19, 2009.

  • In May 2010, the Aga Khan and Prime Minister Harper took part in the Foundation Ceremony of the Ismaili Centre, the Aga Khan Museum and Park in Toronto. The Aga Khan Museum is the first museum in North America dedicated exclusively to the arts of the Islamic world. The museum seeks to inform, educate and inspire audiences about the arts of the Islamic world and the plurality within Islam whereas the network of Ismaili Centres globally, through their design and function, reflect and illustrate the Ismaili community’s intellectual and spiritual understanding of Islam, its social conscience and its tolerant attitude.

  • In October 2006, Prime Minister Harper announced that our Government was partnering with the Aga Khan to establish the Global Centre for Pluralism in Ottawa. The Centre promotes pluralism internationally as a means to advance good governance, peace and human development. It also supports academic and professional development, provides advisory services, and supports research and learning in developed and developing countries.

  • The Government of Canada and the Aga Khan Foundation cooperate in development projects around the world, including in Afghanistan, Pakistan and eastern Africa. Collaboration has been particularly strong on promoting maternal, newborn and child health - one of Canada’s development priorities - including in Afghanistan, Tanzania, Mali, Mozambique and Pakistan.

  • The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a group of private, international, non-denominational agencies, established by His Highness the Aga Khan, working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people in some of the poorest parts of the developing world. The network is active in over 30 countries and employs over 80,000 people globally. Its nine agencies address complex development issues including the provision of quality healthcare and education services, cultural and economic revitalization, micro-enterprise, entrepreneurship and economic development, the advancement of civil society and the protection of the environment.

Quotes

Our Government is honoured to once again welcome His Highness the Aga Khan to Canada. Our country has a warm and lasting friendship with His Highness, who was granted honorary Canadian citizenship for his leadership as a champion of international development, pluralism and tolerance around the world.” - Prime Minister Stephen Harper
