370 PIMSTEIN, VICTOR. The Church of San Domenico, Noto: ROSARIO GAGLIARDI Architect. 7ff., 19 original photographs. Text and photographs printed throughout on heavy boards, hinged with linen, loosely inserted in matching rough linen chemise, of which the inner back cover is lined with a panel of copper. 160 x 115 mm. (ca. 6 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches). 8vo. Apparently a unique artist’s book, clearly assembled by hand, and with no date or publication statement. The volume is at once a work of architectural history, with informed commentary on, and accomplished photographs of, this basilica by Gagliardi (1698-1762), one of the leading architects of the Sicilian Baroque; and a sophisticated work of art in its own right, a reverie on the monument and the mystery of its situation in time and space. Victor Pimstein (born in Mexico in 1962), who trained as an architect at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, has had numerous exhibitions in the past decade of his photographs, in London, Barcelona and elsewhere.

N.p., n.d. [Cambridge, ca. 1985-1990?].
