BRIEF NOTE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GIRI BALA RAKHA FROM PINDAM TO 12TH CLASS (INTERMEDIATE)

The Special Commissioner of Tribal Welfare, A.P, Vijayawada has informed that a convergence planning workshop was conducted on 24.11.2016 and gaps have been identified in implementation of Comprehensive School Health (RBSK&RKSK). In order to cover the gaps , it is necessary to improve the capacities of the institutional level coordinators who are directly involved in implementing the comprehensive school health program. Accordingly, it is proposed to conduct capacity building to the field level coordinators by way of trainings at different levels in convergence with line departments.

The Special Commissioner of Tribal Welfare, A.P. Vijayawada has conducted the work shop on school health program to all the DTWOs of Krishna, Guntu, Prakasam, Nellore, Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittor and Ananthapur (8 non ITDA districts) on 23rd &24th in the office of the POITDA, Srisailam along with the following other officials belongs to various Departments as detailed below.



  1. District Tribal Welfare Officer, Nellore.

  2. D.C., R.B.S.K., Nellore.

  3. I.E. Coordinator (SSA/RMSA), Nellore.

  4. Manager, D.E.I.C., Nellore

  5. A.P.D., I.C.D.S., Nellore.

They are designated as Nodal Officers for implementation of Comprehensive School Health Plan with the convergence of Education Health, ICDS Departments.

The Special Commissioner of Tribal Welfare, AP, Vijayawadea has informed that the Govt. Ashram High school for girls Golagamudi, has been identified as model school for implementation of the school health program as a pilot in Nellore district on par with other Districts @ each school to each Districts in convergence with the SSA, RMSA, NHM, ICDS, UNICEF, SERP.

The following instructions were issued by the Special Commissioner of Tribal Welfare, AP, Vijayawada in regard to implementation of School Health Programme.


  • Every Thursday the Nodal Officer have to visit Maximum No. of T.W. Educational Institutions and to screen all the students to assess Hemoglobin percentage and if any anemic boarders identified immediately proper diets regular medical checkups should be taken up by the institution Coordinator with the help of health coordinator of the nearby Primary Health Centre.

  • The State Coordinator has informed that immediately to identify the institution coordinator to the every educational institutions duly involved the H.W.O. / P.E.T. of concerned Residential School and also identify the health Coordinator working in the nearby Primary Health Centers.

  • The Director of Tribal Welfare, AP, Vijayawada was pleased to kindly allocated an amount of Rs. 8.50 lakhs to the DTWO, Nellore.



  • During the workshop the State Coordinator has informed that if any boarder suddenly collapsed due to various reasons the institution coordinators has to take that boarder to the nearby P.H.C. and then admitted in the Area Hospital / P.H.C. / or any Corporate Hospital also for survival of the boarder. The connected expenditure shall be meet with the said funds as recommended by the Medical Authorities.



  • The institution coordinators are held responsible to maintain the Hygienic situation with in the institution premises and also in the Kitchen.



  • The every Medical Officers of the P.H.C. shall be visited all the Tribal Welfare Educational Institutions.



  • During the training the Gynecologist has instructed to conduct the awareness campaign every Tribal Welfare girl institution by the Health Coordinator and Anganwadi Supervisors on the Ministration periods once in a three months for recall to avoid the further complication and to avoid the anemic situation in the S.T. girl.

The District Collector was pleased to kindly issue the instructions to all the Medical Officers of P.H.Cs to visit once in a month to all the TW Institutions functioning in their respective Jurisdiction and to conduct Medical checkup to all the boarders compulsory and if any sick boarders and anemic case noticed, the proper care should be taken up on the sick boarders and to provide qualitative treatment.

According to the instructions of Dist Collector the District Tribal Welfare Officer was convened with all the principals and Hostel Welfare Officers and issued the following instructions regarding steps to be taken up to provide hygienic condition in the premises of the institutions and also in the students.


  1. Instructed to arrange to clean of all cooking vessels.



  1. To fill up all the pits to avoid the stagnation of water and not to store the starch nearby kitchen hours together due to noticed during the visit.



  1. To take steps for cleaning of drainage and to spray the hebbate solution in the drainage and to use the bleaching power on the sides of the drainage to avoid the mosquito bite.



  1. To observe the dry day in every Sunday and to motivate the students to clean their trunk boxes plates, glasses and clothes also.



  1. To take steps for cleaning of syntax tank / overhead tanks and also cleaning of septic tanks and to arrest the leakages of water pipes and septic tank pipes.



  1. Instructed to chlorinate the drinking water as directed by the Medical Officers of nearby P.H.Cs.



  1. Instructed not to send the any sick boarder to their home and call the parents and to provide the treatment in the Govt. Hospital up to survival in the present of the parents instead of sending their home and deviation in this matter viewed seriously.



  1. Instructed to approach the Medical Officer of the nearby P.H.Cs of their respective TW institutions and ensure that the medical staff should be visit once in a month to the institution and to get the medical check up to the boarders of the institution regularly to improve the health conditions. However, all the corporate hospitals have been requested to conduct medical checkup in the TW institutions at District Head Quarters to get it medical checkup and requested to identify severe chronic deceases attacked boarders and identify to take prompt care up them.

After introduced the scheme, the financial assistance Rs.24,000/- has been released to the Modern Eye Hospital, Nellore to get it peripheral lasers in both eyes to the Yanadi kid aged about one month, D/o. Vanitha belongs to Gandhi Jana Sangam of Sangam Mandal and it was succeeded and visual capacity has been increased.

Financial Assistance Rs.30,000/- has been incurred to the pregnant Yanadi woman by name Smt. Kathi Venkataramanamma, W/o. Muthyalaiah residence of Indiramma colony of Muthukur village due to Sevier anemic and the pregnant woman and kid also having heart problem and they were sent to Egmore Hospital, Chennai and treatment is being provide. She has not completed 9th month and the Department is observing from time to time.

One Tribal Girl residence of Muthukur village is suffering with bleeding from the throat and the treatment is being provided in the Hematologist.

Parasuram Munemma, D/o.Eswaramma, Nellore Kothapalem of Kota Mandal aged about 4 years having hole in the heart and they were sent to Egmore Hospital, Chennai for treatment. Treatment has been provided for 25 days in the Egmore Hospital and Doctors suggested to give maximum rest to that baby and at present, it will not be suitable go get it surgery.
