Alexander Semin, RW, Washington Capitals
This is the best Semin card of his career.  There is a return to form in scoring to his rookie card but you also see growth in his defensive and skating ratings.  This is a powerful scoring card for both normal and power play situations.

Brad Boyes, RW, St. Louis Blues

The card isn't quite as good as last year but Boyes still has a great scoring touch and offers big returns for power play situations.

Corey Perry, RW, Anaheim Ducks
The third card proves a charm for Perry as there is a slight upgrade in the scoring columns.  Unfortunately, Perry loses a little of his intimidation rating in this set.

Bryan Little, RW, Atlanta Thrashers
The second Strat card reveals a nice scoring touch and Little has average to good unit totals for all of his columns.   The inside shot units should get better on subsequent cards and hopefully he'll start imposing himself a tad more on the defensive end of the ice.

Devin Setoguchi, RW, San Jose Sharks
A sleeper in the last draft, Setoguchi has the speed and agility to generate a high number of goals in a season.  He also brings the big INT-9 rating which helps immensely on the other end of the ice.

Nik Antropov, RW, New York Rangers
Improved defense is one hallmark of the new card but there is also a drop in the intimidation and skating ratings.  The card has much better unit scores for the normal shooting columns this year so overall this is a slight upgrade for the valuation.

Milan Hejduk, RW, Colorado Avalanche
This veteran player no longer puts up numbers like he did at the start of the decade but the inside and rebound shot totals still offer quality on most top-six lines in draft league play.  Plus, Hejduk still has the amazing skating ability.

Mike Knuble, RW, Philadelphia Flyers
The Knuble card is similar to others from his past seasons but Strat gives a noticeable upgrade to the card in the intimidation and skating ratings.

Big intimidation ratings equals giant returns in Strat hockey (as long as those numbers don’t come with the big penalty ratings)

ZDENO CHARA, RD, BOSTON BRUINS

14 INT, C PEN, 5 DEF
The best in the business today when it comes down to clogging up the passing lanes and preventing the opposition from getting a good shot on goal.  He’s starting to get up there in age a little but he’s still the best defender by a country mile for banging and bruising the opposition while bringing his own offensive firepower to the ice.   The guy hits and he gets points for you.

ALEXANDER OVECHKIN, LW, WASHINGTON CAPITALS

14 INT, B PEN, 3 DEF
The best overall player and your top goal scorer in the set likes to bring the hard hits to the opposition.   The scoring touch is crazy in normal situations and downright brutal for the PP IS and RB columns.   Throw in the max intimidation and the Ovechkin card is just insane.  Plus, he's in his early 20's for Strat's sake.

DUSTIN BROWN, RW, LOS ANGELES KINGS
13 INT, C PEN, 4 DEF

This is a scrappy, tenacious guy who likes to play big at both ends of the ice.  He can also pop in 25 to 30 goals for your draft league team.  He might not have a lengthy career because his body should suffer some type of damage.   Some guys stay in their coverage.   Brown is like a shark on the ice looking for someone to hit.   Still, he’s only 24 years old so we’ll get a few additional cards like this one.

BROOKS ORPIK, LD, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

13 INT, C PEN, 5 DEF

This is the classic “defensive” defenseman.  Orpik isn’t going to help with the rush up the ice but he is a shutdown type back in his own end.  He also has the reflexes and tenacity to run over just about anyone on the ice.  This is clearly a player on the rise as the defense has made a world of improvement over the past two seasons.  A 5 D and a 13 INT?  Putting Orpik on the team is a no-brainer!!

ROBYN REGEHR, LD, CALGARY FLAMES
13 INT, C PEN, 5 DEF

This veteran has put up 4 straight cards with 10+ INT ratings.   What little offense he had last season disappears off this card but you can’t beat the defensive ratings when it comes to shutting down the oppositional scoring ability.

RYAN CALLAHAN, RW, NEW YORK RANGERS

12 INT, C PEN, 4 DEF

A good offensive season from this checking line winger gives notice that Callahan might end up as a good depth player on any roster.   He doesn’t have the best of scoring instincts but his ability to stick to opponents is a very nice trait.

SHANE DOAN, RW, PHOENIX COYOTES
12 INT, C PEN, 3 DEF

This is your classic two-way right forward card.   Doan gives you a lot of goals and he also likes to mix it up on the other end.

MATT GREENE, RD, LOS ANGELES KINGS
12 INT, C PEN, 4 DEF

Don’t get into this guy’s area in front of the net because he’ll knock you a new one.   Green is a huge presence on the ice and loves riding opponents into the board.  There is also a good technical side to his defensive ability.   The offensive skills are very limited so celebrate any season where he scores a goal.

BRENT SEABROOK, RD, CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
12 INT, D PEN, 4 DEF

The last two seasons have been very nice for Seabrook and he could tip into double-digit goals with a little more initiative in the attack.   You get the good defense, big hit, and you don’t cough up big penalties.   That makes Seabrook valuable to teams that want to beef up protection in their own end.

MIKE COMMODORE, RD, COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS
11 INT, C PEN, 4 DEF

This is the fourth usable Strat card out of Commodore and he’s getting a little better in each season knowing when to knock the tar out of someone.  The PIM is down to a respectable level and he’s a great defensemen to have on the roster.   Maybe not the fastest defender back there but he uses his size well and can take a good angle when making a hit.   The new card is probably as good as it gets on the offensive end
