June 17, 2017: Retailers Linked to Labor Violations within the Supply Chain
Various retailers are linked to labor violations among truck drivers who transport goods from distribution centers to stores. For example, drivers are working up to 20 hours a day earning pennies on the dollar, at best. Trucking companies use fear and force tactics to demand their drivers to finance the trucks they drive. Most of these drivers are poor immigrants who can barely speak English taking on massive debt that they cannot afford.
These drivers are critical to the supply chain of many goods that we, as consumers use and enjoy. Goods are delivered to many familiar retailers, including the following publicly traded corporations: Target (TGT), Costco (COST), Home Depot (HD) & Hewlett-Packard (HPE)
June 21, 2017: More Bad News for Mylan
Mylan (MYL), the EpiPen maker, has been paying lower taxes to the detriment of the environment. Since 2011, Mylan has invested in five coal processing facilities that sell coal at a loss in exchange for tax credits. Heather Bresch, is the CEO of Mylan and “coincidentally” the daughter of Senator Joe Manchin of the coal-mining state West Virginia.
