Members of the media, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen

A very good evening to all of you. It is indeed a great pleasure for me to join you during this evening.
First and foremost, I would like to thank Citroën and Brooklands Motors for inviting me to officiate the opening of Brooklands Center as the authorised Citroen repairing facility. Let me extent my hearties congratulations, to both Citroën and Brooklands Motors on the opening of this new centre in Kuala Lumpur.
I was made to understand, ladies and gentlemen, that this is the first modern facility for Citroën vehicles in Malaysia. This clearly demonstrates Brooklands Motors’ commitment in providing greater customers’ satisfaction and Citroën’s confidence in the Malaysia automobile industry.
Ladies and gentlemen,

We all know that the automotive industry has become highly competitive in the recent months and that the industry is undergoing through a lot of changes with the National Automotive Policy (NAP) in place since March this year. I am therefore sure that you would agree that we are facing challenging times in the motoring trade; regardless whether you are the principle or the importer or the distributor or the dealer. The Malaysian Automotive Association forecasted car sales to drop six percent (6%) to five hundred and twenty thousand (520 000) units compared to the expected five hundred and sixty five thousand (565 000) units in 2006. This is mainly due to more stringent rules for hire-purchase contracts, coupled with declining prices of second-hand cars since the release of the NAP. The total industry volume of motor vehicles sold in Malaysia in the first six months of this year registered an approximate of two hundred and forty eight thousand (248 000) units against the two hundred and sixty-one thousand (261 000) units registered in the same period last year. This sums up to a drop of five percent (5%) in the total industry volume over year-to-date June 2005.

It is therefore, very encouraging to see that Citroën, a French brand, through Brooklands Motors, its official local representative, is showing their commitments to their customers despite a situation that is not quite favourable at the moment. I believe that it is a very innovative move by both parties to focus their efforts towards customers’ satisfaction, especially since Citroën is a popular brand among the young as well as older generations in Malaysia. Over fifteen thousand (15 000) units of Citroën were sold since 1985, and this figure represents the highest number of cars sold among the French car makers.
I am pleased with the efforts of both Brooklands Motors and Citroën in improving the customer satisfaction of Citroën car owners. By providing the customers with a modern repairing facility and quality after sales service, I am certain that this move will bring Citroën to greater height within the automotive industry in Malaysia.
With this partnership, I hope that it will mark a new era for Citroën in Malaysia. I am confident that Citroën will find ways to gain strength in “car-ownership experience”. It is my hope to see Citroën, a world-known brand producing comfortable and innovative cars, to provide world-class after-sales service to car-owners in Malaysia, thus making driving a “Citroën” a TRULY REMARKABLE experience.
Ladies and gentlemen,

Let me once again thank Citroën and Brooklands Motors for inviting me here this evening to officially launch Brooklands Motors as the Citroen Authorised Repairer. CONGRATULATIONS and I hope you will continue your good work in making Citroën a popular choice in Malaysia.

Thank you.
