2016-2017 Update

The students in the HASD Music Department have had many outstanding opportunities and rewarding musical experiences during the 2016-2017 school year. The music faculty is very appreciative to the administration, school board, parents, HAMPA, community, and other faculty and staff members for their continued support of this vital program in our schools.

Belief Statement
Dedicated to the continued tradition of musical excellence through education and performance, the Hollidaysburg Area Music Department offers all students the opportunity to discover within themselves a source of creativity, enrichment, and the means of human expression which will last a lifetime.
Through quality music instruction, we:

  • Encourage artistic individualism and camaraderie through study, practice, performance, technology, and musical experiences.

  • Develop the 21st Century Skills of creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration that employers are seeking in today’s workforce

  • Develop an aesthetic understanding both intellectually and emotionally which leads to an appreciation of music of all styles and cultures.

  • Foster a sense of pride in our music programs throughout our schools and communities.

  • Promote music as a lifelong study and vocation.


Best Community for Music Education Distinction
The Hollidaysburg Area School District was named one of the “2017 Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States by the NAMM Foundation for six consecutive years! This prestigious distinction was given to just 527 school districts nationwide for their support of music education through funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs.
