Each student will prepare and submit a one or two page summary of a potential project of interest to the student. Report should be generated with a computer word program and printed. Handwritten reports will not be accepted. The report should include

  • basic technical description of project's "product,"

  • potential impact of "product" as a commercial product,

  • specifics, as appropriate, regarding the specific product's sales description.

This report is intended to be Phase I of the student's consideration of possible projects to be developed by a team during the course. Students may submit more than one project description (each including the information above).

If interested, students can also submit, in addition to their project above, a description of the dumbest project s/he can imagine.

Project: Gamepad Add-on for Smartphone’s

On either sides of the Smartphone there would a D-pad on the left and (a,b,x,y) buttons on the right. These attachments will be semi circle in shape and clamp on to either side. It will also communicate with the cell phone via Bluetooth. Special drivers and supports would have to be made for Android or IOS to be able to use the add-on in games. This add-on will allow gamers who cannot take the imprecise controls of touchscreen buttons and d-pad to now have physical controls which would allow the usual gaming experience that one would find on a game system.

As a commercial product this peripheral would increase sales of videogames in the smartphone market along with adding a whole new dynamic to the gaming universe because of the fact that the smartphone could have a gaming standard which has a similar control scheme to other systems in the same market such as the 3DS or Sony Vita. This will open the smartphone platform to have games made for the 3DS or Vita also made for smartphones.

Sales description: A better way to play your favorite games on your smartphone, Control-it brings the controls of traditional gaming to the smartphone. Made to attach and interact with any popular Android or IOS device via Bluetooth this add-on will not only bring gaming to your current phone but also to ones in the future. With this new peripheral it is easy to get lost in old games and new, with the loads on compatible games which can be found on the IOS and android market the sky’s the limit.
