Topic Analysis by Matt DeLateur

This resolution should prove challenging but interesting. Its complications lie in that it bears a slight metaphysical aspect the resolution questions what the very nature of a democracy should be. Fora system characterized by its distribution of voting, to ask about voting appears bold. At the same time, I find this resolution incredibly topical and important. In places faraway from our representative democracy, citizens of other nations
—most notably Egypt—seem to be grappling with the birthing labors of democracy. Their struggle asks the same questions as this resolution What constitutes a democracy Why do people enter a democracy and what are their rights in doing so Is the government of a democracy sufficient to be a democracy or does such a definition necessarily to include the will of the people directly Hopefully I can shed some light on the plethora of questions raised by this resolution.
