Some architecture scenarios.


  1. You want to set up your e-commerce unit. How big should it be? What kind of architecture do you propose?


In other words, how many servers (HTTP, Applications, DB, …)? Should the server pool be augmented with one or more cache?


That is:


If so, how many, at what level? Should the file servers be augmented with normal disks or disk arrays?

  1. Should you consider mirror servers to serve across the client base? When would that be predicated?



Possible consideration: transit delay from C to S and vice-versa.
How do Clients submit their requests to Servers? Where is time spent? Via TCP/IP.
