Baseball Tryouts. The last day for baseball tryouts is today! Location: The Baseball Field. Time: 2:30 pm.

  • Swim Team. Congratulations to our Sate Swim Team, finishing 26th out of 181 teams! Everyone swam best times and our own mighty Spartan, Audrey McKinnon, finished 10th in the 200 IM and finished 5th in the 100 Breast. Congratulations, Spartans!

    • 30 Plus Club. Teachers, please allow those seniors who are 30 Plus Club members to promptly report to the auditorium at the end of 1st period or the start of 2nd period to take the Plus club photo. An updated list of the Senior 30 Plus Club was sent to your emails and put in your email boxes.

    • St. Jude Club. The St. Jude Club will be having a mandatory meeting on February 16 in M109 at 2:20. We will discuss upcoming events, and the meeting shouldn't last long. Spartans come out and support the St. Jude CLub for a spirit night at Chick-Fil-A on Poplar on February 25 from 3-8 pm. We need all the support we can get!

    • FAFSA Application. Monday, February 15th is the deadline to complete the FAFSA, which is the Federal Application for Free Student Aid, in order to retain eligibility for the TNPromise free tuition scholarship. The FAFSA must be complete by midnight Febraury 15. There are no extension for TNPromise. You can access the FAFSA application online at FAFSA.gov. Please see your school counselor immediately if you need assistance completing the FAFSA. We understand that having the funds to pay for college is one of the most important priorities in your senior year.

    • Baseball Tryouts. Baseball Tryouts will be held Monday Feb. 15th at the Baseball Field at 3:00 pm.

    • Germany, France, and Spain Trip. Attention to all students going  on the Germany, France, and Spain trip this summer: There will be a meeting on Monday 2/8/16 in Frau Warren's classroom E104 at 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there!

    • Biology Olympiad. Attention Biology Olympiad members: The open exam will be administered on 2/11/16 in Ms. Agee's room, M205. Please be in the room by 6:45 am. If you are late, you will not be able to take the test.

    • Seniors Only: Six Flags. If you would like to attend the Senior Trip to Six Flags and Lambert on May 6th, please pick up a permission slip from the Student Support Office. The trip is $155 dollars. Payment and Permission Slips MUST be received by March 11 before 1:00. Payments can be made in the Student Support Office to Ms. Brown. You must have permission slips completely filled out along with the payment. We will not accept payments after March 11th. Guaranteed to be a fun and exciting way to end your senior year!!

    • Congrats: Optimist Club. Congratulations to the following HIP Students who participated in the Optimist Club speech competition last Wednesday. 1st Place winner: Takia Davis, 2nd Place Winner: KeIana Walker, 3rd Place Winner: Brittany Miller.

    • Congrats: S.E.T.C. Congrats to Sydney Prather, who was nominated by Mr. Boone, and chosen to be the S.E.T.C Emerging Artist of Promise. The award is named after Samm-Art Williams. Sydney is one of the 4 students chosen from a 13 state region to represent WSHS Theatre in Greensboro, N.C. in March.

    • Theatre. Reminder: The WSHS Shakespeare competition will take place Thursday February 4th at 2:30 in Mr. Henry's room, M225. There is a sign up sheet outside the door. See Mr. Henry for more details.

    • FCCLA. Shout out to FCCLA members. FCCLA entered 29 members in the Regional Competition in Memphis. We had 23 first and second place winners. Good job! 1st place: Nyla McCraine, Dechaure Rhode, Kierra Whitelow, Kaitlin McDade, Demecca Pride, Alden Thomas, Justice Crenshaw, Denise McBee, Tyla Middleton, Corea Ross, Victor Brooks, and Kyla Harris. 2nd Place: Martisha Lewis, De'Aira Thompson, Christopher Holmes, Tyris Woods, and Braxton Winford.

    • AMC. Attention! The location for AMC 10A / 12A has been changed today! It will take place in Mr. Jennemann's Room, E100 at 8:30 am.  The exam will take place from 8:30 - 9:45 am.

    • Knowledge Bowl Team. The White Station Knowledge Bowl Team will hold practice this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. All members of the team must be present!

    • Congrats: Swim Team. Congratulations to our county meet swimmers! Audrey McKinnon, Isabel Cui, Roland Chang, Lucas Jackstas, Avi Dixit, & Avery Coonin gave us great swims! Wish them well as we head to the state swim meet next week!

    • Swim Team. Congrats to the Boys Swim team on their city win Tuesday! Come out and support the swim team this Saturday at St. George's for the county meet!

    • Theatre. The Play Production One Act Festival is here! Plays, which have been directed by WSHS students will be presented Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the WSHS auditorium. Admission is $5 to Thursday or Friday at 7:00 pm, or you can see all 7 plays at 4 pm on Saturday for only $7.

    • Quiz Bowl. The Bolton High School Quiz Bowl tournament has been rescheduled for this Saturday, January 30th. All Quiz Bowl team members who have signed up to compete in this tournament: please make arrangements to be there.

    • Crush for Crush. Valentines Day is coming up and JROTC is selling crushes for your crush. They will be delivered to your crush's 7th period on Thursday, Feb. 12th. They will be sold during all lunches from Feb. 3rd to 10th. Come make your crush's day!

    • AMC Math. Attention! If you've registered, you are required to pre-fill all name and demographic information on the answer sheet before the official contest administration date, which is on Feb. 2nd, 2016, next Tuesday. Please come to Mrs. Cui's room after school on Feb. 1st at 2:30 pm to fill out the sheet.

    • Latin. Attention, Latin Discipuli! There will be a meeting this Friday, January 29th at 2:30 concerning Latin Convention. Of course, snacks and drinks will be provided! We will be done by 3:00!

    • Rust College. High School Community College Day is March 4, 2016 from 10:30 am -1:00 pm. Register online at www.rustcollege.edu or by phone at 662-252-8000 ext 4059.

    • Attention Debaters. There will be no Debate Team practice after school Thursday, January 28th. Practice will resume after school Tuesday, Feb. 2nd. 

    • Musical T Shirts. Mr. Boone has T-Shirts for the Spring Musical, "Spelling Bee". He has small, medium, and large shirts and they are $5. Checks can be made to the school.

    • Prom Theme. Seniors: If you would like to vote for the prom theme, you can stop by the Student Support Office today and tomorrow to vote. This is for seniors only and please only one vote per senior.

    • Delegation to Nashville. Delegates who are going on the trip to the state capitol tomorrow are required to meet with Ms. Sugarmono in room M112 from 2:30-4:00.

    • TED-Ed Club. TED-Ed Club will met this Thursday for an hour after school in the library. Come to watch and discuss TED Talks and continue working on your own presentations. See you there!

    • FBLA. Congratulations to White Station High School's FBLA chapter who competed against students across Shelby County in various events. Please congratulate the following students when you see them: Sports and Entertainment Management (Team 1) Nancy Yuan and Xington Wang (1st Place). Sports and Entertainment Management (Team 2) Jakobi Bruce, Jonathan James, and Zion Chatman (2nd Place). Cyber Security Junli Yang (1st Place). Public Speaking 1 Catelyn Williams (1st place), Tariq Usmani (2nd Place), and London Pirtle (5th Place). These young people have advanced to the state division of competition to be held in Chattanooga, TN later in April. Once again, congratulations to all. 

    • Student Council Spirit Night. Monday, February 1st, Student Council will be hosting a spirit night at Chick-fil-a on Poplar close to our school.

    January 25, 2016

    • Homecoming Dance. Spartans! Buy your home coming ticket during all lunches: A, B, and C. They are $20 and we are selling them till the 27th. The dance is Feb 5th.

    • Theatre. The WSHS Shakespeare monologue competition will be Thursday February 4 at 2:30 in room M225. See Mr. Henry for more details.

    • WSHS Girls' Varsity Basketball. Players, please stop by Room M240 today to pick up very important information.

    • Day on the Hill. Ms. Sugarmon needs to see all the delegates who will be attending the field trip to Nashville for the "Day on the Hill" in Nashville. There will be a 15 minute meeting today in room M112.

    • Track and Field. Attention all aspiring Track and Field athletes: If you plan to participate in the 2016 Spring Track and Field program, you must have your physical, cardiac arrest, and concussion for completed and turned in by 2:30 pm this Thursday. If you need the forms or have any questions, please stop by the ROTC building prior to Thursday. No exceptions! Everyone must have these forms on file dated after January 1, 2016. 

    • Make-A-Wish Club. Hey, White Station. Come out to Chick-fil-a near the school this coming Tuesday the 26th for a spirit night from 3-8 pm to support the Make-A-Wish club. Don't forget to say you're from White Station. Also, don't forget we will have a Make-A-Wish club meeting on Tuesday the 26th right after school in the cafeteria to discuss future car washes, bake sales, and spirit nights. It will be brief then we will all head to Chick-fil-a for a spirit night from 3-8 pm.

    • Military Ball. Due to bad weather conditions, the JROTC Military Ball has been moved from Saturday, Jan. 23rd to Saturday, Feb. 13th. You can still buy tickets even if you aren't in JROTC. If you need refunds or tickets, please ceom to the JROTC building after school.

    • Athletic Training Program. Union University is hosting an on campus athletic training, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and exercise science. This is an overnight workshop which will give your students a chance yo come and have a hands on experience in what the field of athletic training and sports medicine looks like. Interested students can register at http://www.uu.edu/events/atw The cost is $25 if students are communting and $35 if staying overnight.

    • Homecoming Nominations. Student Council/E-board will be taking up nominations for homecoming court during all lunches starting from Wed. Jan 20 to Fri. Jan 22. 

    • Spectrum. Spectrum will be having a meeting on Thursday the 21st from 2:25 to 3:00 in room M139. T Shirt order forms will be available. There will be snakcs!

    • Scribbler Coffeehouse. Want to spend a night under the stars? Maybe not, since it's freeing outside? Don't worry! The Scribbler is hosting a galaxy-themed coffeehouse on Friday the 22nd from 6-9 om in the auditorium. Bring $5 and a friend for a good time.

    • ACT Prep Sessions. ACT Prep Sessions for the February 6th test will be conducted after school and the next two Saturdays (January 23rd and 30th). The test prep schedule is as follows: Dr. Madu-Science (Mon., Tues., and Thurs 2:30-4:00 and Saturdays from 10:30-12:30). Mrs. Odom-English/Reading (Thurs., 2:30-4:30). Mr. Amadou-Ide-Mathematics (Saturdays 7:30-1:30). Ms. Isiip-Science (Fridays 2:20 -3:20 and Saturdays 10:30 - 12:00) Students can pick up an ACT Practice Test for the test prep sessions in room A101. 

    • St. Jude Club. The St. Jude Club will meet Tuesday, January 26th. We will discuss the upcoming events, so please try to be there. We will meet in M109 and the meeting shouldn't be long. 

    • Make-A-Wish. Hey White Station, come out and support the Make-A-Wish club at Schlotzsky's near the school this Thursday the 21st. Make sure you say your from White Station. 

    • Junior and Senior One Acts. Hey Spartans! The White Station Junior and Senior One Acts are around the corner! To get ready, the Play Pro class will be having a bake sale after school this week in the auditorium lobby. Delicious and affordable brownies, cookies, cakes, and muffins will be available to help the White Station Play Pro Class!

    • Girls' Rugby. Ladies! Did you enjoy Powder Puff and want something even better? Join the Lady Gladiators Rugby Team. THere will be a short meeting in Room M131 on Tuesday right after school. If you can't make it, contact Lillian Fite or KT Pritchard. See you there!

    • National Honor Society. National Honor Society Members, please meet in the auditorium immediately after school for our January meeting. 

    • Senior Fees. Senior Fees will be collected February 11th and March 8th during all lunches. Senior dues are $100 this year. This fee includes your cap and gown, senior luncheon, and all graduation costs. Please make sure you have the correct change. Also, checks must be payable to White Station High School. Traditions will only be here on February 11th and March 8th. And it is important that the senior dues of $100 be paid on one of the two allotted days.

    • Culinary Club. Attention Culinary Club! There will be a brief meeting after school on Thursday, January 14th, today. Please try to attend. The meeting will be in Mr. Henry's room, M225. We will discuss club dues, and hopefully we will begin cooking next week.

    • Lost items. If you have left a pair of glasses or a pencil bag in Ms. Agee's room yesterday, come get them.

    • BRIDGES. Youth Ignite is happening this Saturday 4-6 pm at the BRIDGES building downtown. 8 youth from across Memphis will be competing for funding and support to make their idea for improving Memphis youth a reality. This is a free event with food and entertainment, but you must register online at bridgesusa.org/youthignit

    • ACT Free Prep Sessions. ACT free PREP sessions will be at Southwind High School January 30, 2016 from 9:00-1:00 pm. Registration is required at http://tinyurl.com/jkdpdya Please bring a pencil and a calculator.

    • English Teachers. English Teachers! If you have not already been to your boxes, be sure to pick up the green sheets of paper do your classes can vote on this year's teacher superlatives! They need to be turned in to Mr. Pentecost's box by this Friday.

    • Messick/Project Graduation. Those students who missed their meeting at Messick for Project Graduation; the next mandatory meeting is Thursday, January 13 at 6:00 pm in Building C, the cafeteria. 

    • Library Closed. The Library will be closed after school Wed, Thurs, Fri for an online test.

    • Senior Homeroom Teachers. Please turn in Senior Superlative voting forms to the office after homeroom this afternoon. Thanks!

    • TN Coalition of Students for a Better Education. Please turn in your permission slip to Ms. Sugarman in room M112 today if you plan to be a part of the group going to Nashville.

    • Youth in Government. Anyone who is interested in participating in Youth in Government is asked to attend a brief meeting on Wednesday, January 13th in Mrs. Kannady's room, M207 directly after school. We will go over what's required, fees, and other important info! We look forward to seeing you there!

    • WSHS Math Team. For those who signed up for the AMC, there will be a mandatory meeting on January 13th from 2:30 to 3:30 in Ms. Cui's room, M212. If you have not paid your dues yet, please bring them to the meeting, or you will not be able to participate.

    • Theatre. Callbacks for the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be posted outside the choir room and theatre rooms by the end of 2nd period. Those called back should be prepared to dance at 4:00 pm this afternoon.

    • Awards. Congrats to Mr. Boone who will receive the Belz-Lipman Education of the Year Award in the Day of Remembrance March 8, 2016 at the State Capital.

    • Graduation Supplies. Attention Seniors: Last opportunity to order graduation supplies is Wednesday, January 13th. The Balfour representative will be here during all lunches in the Cafeteria. Order packets  are in the Main Office. Bring your order and deposit on Wednesday, Jan. 13th.

    • Drivers Permit Forms. The following students need to come by the Attendance Office to pick up your Official Drivers Permit Form before it expires: De'Aira Thompson, Alex Chung, Roman Ramirez-Garcia, and Cameron Washington.

    • Global Awareness Club. Happy New Year! It's officially 2016, which means there's only 11 months until the Presidential Election. Let's talk about that! The GAC is back in the new year, and we'll be having our first meeting of 2016 on Tuesday Jan. 12, in Mr. P's too, F115 after school. Please join us.

    • Senior Swag Day. Senior Sway Day will be Friday, January 15th. Seniors, please remember the purpose of Senior Swag Day is to dress to impress. The theme for this Senior Swag Day is "Taking on Corporate America". You should dress like you are about to impress that Fortune 500 Company and land that six figure job you always wanted. All attire must be appropriate for school. There should be NO jeans, short skirts or dresses, no short shorts, no crop tops, no bagging pants, and no extremely tight attire. Seniors lets shoe our fellow Spartans...that the class of 2016 is ready to DRESS TO IMPRESS!! Any senior who is dressed inappropriate will be showcasing their swag in ISS. So make sure you follow all the rules.

    • Lost item. If you've found a white pencil pouch, please take it to Ms Hayes in Room A101 or turn it in to the main office. Thank you, Ms. Hayes.

    • Model UN. On Thursday from 2:20 to 2:45 there will be a meeting in Room M024 for all students who signed up for the Rhodes MUN Conference in Feb. Registration for this conference ends Jan. 15th.

    • Nashville Delegation. Ms. Sugarmon needs to see the WSHS delegation Thursday, January 7th at 2:15 for a brief informational meeting about the Nashville Trip of January 27th. 

    • Debate Team. The White Station Debate Team is looking for new members. If you are interested in joining the White Station debate team, there will be an informational meeting in Mr. Rakestraw's room (M111) Thursday at 2:25. Current debate team members are also expected to attend. The meeting will last about 30 minutes and we will discuss practice schedules and upcoming tournament.

    • Lifetime Wellness. ALL Lifetime Wellness Students should report to the SAME teacher they had LAST semester until instructed otherwise.

    • Military Ball. ATTENTION EVERYONE! JROTC's Military Ball is coming up on January 23rd and we are selling tickets now! Come by the ROTC building during your lunch period and buy them! $25 for one and $40 for two! It will be at the Holiday Inn on Central Ave at 6 om. There are only 150 spots so buy them now!

    • Selective Service Sign Up. If you are a male that has recently turned 18 years of age and have not signed up for selective service, please do so immediately. Your onstage campus representative is Sergeant First Class Myers. Please see him in the JROTC building.

    • Theatre. Auditions for the Spring Musical, the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be Jan. 6th and 7th. Please prepare 16 bars of a character-driven song and bring your sheet music to the choir room.

    • Soccer. There will be a meeting in the Auditorium after school on Thursday (1/7) for anyone who is interested in trying out for Boys Soccer. This meeting is mandatory.

    • Colleges Coming to Campus. We are excited to announce the colleges coming to campus: Rice University, University of Tennessee Knoxville, Mississippi State University, and Austin Peay State University. Juniors are highly encouraged to attend these visits. Please sign up in the guidance complex and obtain a permission slip from your English teacher.

    • Co-ed Volleyball. Good morning! There'll be a co-ed volleyball meeting in Dr. Madu's room this Thursday to discuss T-Shirt orders and upcoming plans for this semester. If you have money for the T-Shirt ready, please make sure to bring it. See ya there!

    • White Station Open House. Help us show current 8th graders why they should consider coming to Sparta next year. We will have a club fair in the cafeteria that night to shoe prospective students all the various extracurricular activities available to them. If you are interested in representing your club, contact Principal Holland ASAP.

    • Award. Congratulations to senior Burke Williams for being selected as a finalist for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Bull Bramlett Award, The winner will be selected on December 30th. 

    • Summer Internships and Yearlong Enrichment. Memphis Office of Youth Services Youth Summer Experience and Memphis Ambassadors Program online application period has begun. You will have until January 15, 2015 to apply at www.cityofmemphisyouth.org. This is a great opportunity for summer internships and yearlong enrichment.

    • Make-A-Wish. Good Morning, Make-A-Wish Club Members! Please pick up your t- shirt after school in the cafeteria Tuesday or Wednesday.
