'Decided to try out the multiplayer, see what was still going on in the scene. I don't get why, but while you can set your options for "allow download" of user-made maps and skins and whatnot, every single damn server out there is set up to not allow download and boots you if you try it. Do they really expect you to quit the game and go find the level yourself before joining their server? Assbuckets.

There's this thing in 1-on-1 saber matches where before every match you're supposed to "bow" to your opponent. Chris and I actually started doing this for kicks when we played local and before we ever played an internet match, but we would just bow our heads by tilting the head down and then up. Then it somehow got popular for people to crouch, then bow their heads, before every fight, and I'd actually have servers where people would get mad at me for not doing it their way. They're all "you're supposed to bow, durr", and I'm like "I did, durr", and they're like "no, you have to crouch" and I'm like "sonny, I've been doing this since before you built your first lightsaber". Respect, damnit.

Things to be mentioned of tweaks. When the game first came out it was heavily unbalanced. It's still heavily unbalanced, but slightly less so. There's this jump attack with the red stance that used to have it so that, after landing, you still had full control of yourself and could rotate around you. It's a one-hit-kill move if you land it perfectly, but in the original release it was also a one-hit-kill move for the entire duration of the animation, including after you land and can still spin around, essentially making you invincible as long as you're moving and will instantly-kill anyone who comes near you. Naturally, they fixed this with a patch so that you can't control yourself after your feet leave the ground and there's a significant delay after you pull off the move...but it's still way too overpowered, and just should not be a OHKO move. You see almost every player just spamming this attack on FFA servers.

I checked out a bunch of servers and found one that I got a hang of. It was a no-Force, lightsaber-only game (it's actually pretty cool, 'cause you can dictate what Force Powers are allowed when you make the server, so we all had level 3 jump, attack and defense, but nothing else), and there were usually 7-8 players playing at any given time. I forgot how cool it is to see so many Jedi swinging their lightsabers around like this, and it took me a while to get the hang of things, but eventually I was back to kicking ass. Perhaps the most fun way to get a kill is to wall-kick off of a guy, which does around 25 damage and, if you hit them just right when they're on the ground, you knock them down for a few seconds and have a chance to follow-up. I got a lot of kills like this, but it obviously only works on servers that set up level 3 jump for everyone.

I just got out of a game that was going pretty well for a good while. I left off in 4th place, but the 1st and 2nd place people were in the game for an hour before me and had a score of 40+ before I even joined the game. The game was pretty much between myself and the 3rd place guy, and though we were neck-and-neck for a long while, he eventually started to get ahead of me in kills...and then I found out why. We were playing on ffa_bespin, and there's a balcony area high above where we were all fighting where health packs spawn. This guy would go up there and get all his health back between kills, and that's why he was able to keep going for so long.

I mean, it's pretty much established amongst players that, in a no-Force FFA, you stay and fight until the bitter end. You don't run off mid-battle to go heal up--that's why they don't allow Force Heal, damnit. It's cheap, it really is. I wasn't too happy that it was going on at all, but other people started doing it too, and then they stopped doing it between kills and started doing it in the middle of duels. I was fighting this guy one-on-one on the other side of the map while the rest of the gang was battling in the usual spot, and I'm doing fairly well because I can see a lot of my attacks are connecting and he's barely even touched me...and then he just runs off. And I chase him, and he runs straight to the health packs! Like, wtf, dude? I just let him be and rejoined the herd, and then later I got into another one-on-one scenario with a completely different guy and he did the same thing! Just turned tail and ran in the middle of our duel. I called him a coward and then I just got fed up, 'cause these guys had no sense of sportsmanship.

That was a little frustrating, and more disappointing than anything, but the game was still incredibly fun up until everyone started douching out. One thing I really like about the game is that it doesn't keep track of your deaths, so instead of working on a good kill/death ratio, it's all about kill/time. I always find it more stressful to die in games that keep track because it "hurts your score", but in this game if someone kills you you just want to respawn and go kill him back.

If you're gonna call me names, at least use moddable names.

Just plugged in a Cube controller and memory card in the Wii and put in the game. Hope it's good.

Sorry, Mac, I tried but I don't like it. It feels so old-fashioned (even though those are the FPS's I generally like). I didn't even finish the first level. Sorry.

Use the code "DINGO" in the cheats section and just skip ahead to "Yavin Temple". And then if you don't like Nar Shaddaa Streets, skip ahead to "Bespin Undercity".

Or I will kill you.

I had to think really hard about what the next level was, 'cause I beat it yesterday, but there wasn't really much to it aside from a giant puzzle room near the end. I did try something new, though, in that I wanted to see how far I could get in the level without attacking an enemy. I only killed troopers by either blocking or running into them with my saber.

Secret areas found: 0 of 3
Enemies killed: 83
Accuracy: 100%
Lightsaber Use (Blocks): 820

As you can see, there was a lot of blocking. The only time I used my guns was to take out two turrets from a far, to which I used rockets 'cause I had plenty to spare. I know there are situations in which it'd be smarter for me to use my guns, but it's just so much more fun to go around saber'in everyone.

The next level was even more straightforward than the last, but there were a few cool surprise Shadow Trooper fights. As if Reborn had cool entrances, there was one room where you enter and it's completely black except for one officer who isn't facing you and the room is lit by a control panel in front of him. As soon as you move forward to kill the unsuspecting officer, a lightsaber turns on in the corner from out of nowhere and it's BAM, Shadow Trooper fight. It really caught me by surprise, but I got lucky and killed this one right away. There are a couple more you face later that I had no trouble with, but then there's a pair of high-level Reborn that you fight in a room where there's a ton of stormtroopers shooting at you, and keeping track of all that fire and the Reborn is really tough, so I died a bunch.

Secret areas found: 1 of 3
Enemies killed: 86
Accuracy: 0%
Lightsaber Use (Blocks): 1470
Force Use (Pull): 26

Wow, I really like to block. And to use Force Pull. I find it's more handy than Push because you can usually kill the enemies as they're flying towards you instead of having to chase them down, though I did kill a couple in this level by pushing them off ledges.

I'm pretty sure the next level ends in a big boss fight.

If you were playing the PC version, there'd be no need for setup. *cough*

This level was completely different than I remembered. There's this huge circular room at the start with a tower in the center surrounded by a large gap, and tons of enemies that pour through to attack you...so naturally I was Force Push'in them all of the edge and laughing all the while. There are a lot of those walking robot things that didn't cause me too much trouble (they'd be more intimidating if they did damage by walking into you), and only a couple of lightsaber fights that didn't cause me any trouble either (though I did discover that Shadow Troopers can use Force Lightning, to my surprise), but that all changes when you reach the shield generator and encounter Galak Fyyar (I seriously love this guy's name).

Fyyar comes in sporting this mech-suit with a shield generator of its own, and taunts Kyle into battle. I actually really like the dialogue in this scene--Fyyar is nothing more than a megalomaniacal Imperial shell, but Kyle really shines here in his comebacks and how he shows that he's moved past his darker tendencies from Mysteries of the Sith and, well, the start of this game. The fight with Fyyar is actually really tough, requiring you to bombard his shields long enough to momentarily take them down, and then you can get in close enough to use your lightsaber. I unloaded all my rockets and then went into Force Speed to unload some more, and used the secondary fire on the repeater weapon a lot as well. Eventually you can permanently destroy his shield generator, and from there all you have to do is stay close enough and get behind him. 'Fun fight.

****, and I thought the level was supposed to end here, but after this you're supposed to escape the soon-to-be-destroyed Doomgiver, and the gravity generators are out so you have to fly all over the level to do it. It's insanely difficult to control and I'm happy it's not timed, though Kyle's constant comments about the status of the ship really suggested that it was. There are some sections where you have to move through corridors filled with fire, taking damage all the while, and I honestly have no clue what they expect you to do here. I can't see a way to get through it without taking damage, and my best idea was to use Force Speed so that I take a little bit less.

I had a hard time figuring out where I was supposed to go, too, as I didn't know where to find the escape pods that Kyle kept talking about. I ended up going through every room of the level before finally finding the right door that took me where I needed to be.

Secret areas found: 1 of 1
Enemies killed: 41
Accuracy: 92.86%

And now I've landed outside of the Yavin Temple, taking me to the final stretch of the game. Only a few more levels to go, and a lot of lightsaber action coming up.

I can't believe I'm already at 100 posts in this topic and I haven't even beaten one game yet. My entire GameCube Send-off Spectacular from '07 fit into one topic.

I feel like I should start coming up with a title for the next topic, just in case.
